Aberwiin Manor (2.06) - File Description  


Description:
House Features
--------------

- Fully furnished and located just north west of imperial city.

- A ring for instant travel to the manor.

- Mage teleports to the main 8 towns.

- Spellmaker and item enchanter.

- A display area with 60 display cases.

- 34 storage chests and 2 jewelry cases, these dont respawn items, and so are safe to store ur stuff in.

- 2 living areas, a good area and a hidden evil area

- Pit of Eternal pain, this is a working death chamber, you can teleport any NPC to 7 different traps, the traps include a gas chamber, a crusher, blades trap, a cell full of rats, a cell with a deadroth, a darts trap. There are also 2 seperate cages in the dark temple with trap doors that can drop 2 NPC's into lava at the same time. Be careful which NPCs you send to the traps, some are quest characters and cant die, but they'll usually escape after a while.

- Several ingrediants areas, flower beds full of Tamreal's plants and 1 with oblivion plants, the pit of eternal pain also has cave plants.

- A couple of prisoners in the dark temple, these two were imprisoned by the previous house owner for trying to rob the manor. One of them will always be asleep so they make an ideal vampire snack. A 3rd prisoner in the pit of eternal pain has an immortality enchantment, and so she cant die (despite the lava!).

- Static Alchemy set, thanks to Shawn Dworshak (aka Academician Nwahs) for making this and allowing everyone to use it.

- 4 custom weapons

- Fast travel is on.


How to get Aberwiin Manor
-------------------------
At the moment the house is free (I might add a quest later), after the mod is installed a map marker for the manor will appear just north west of imperial city, 2 new spells will also be added to your character. You will have to pick the lock of the front door to get inside. The key and a teleport ring are hidden somewhere inside the manor behind a secret door, to open the secret door you will have to find a hidden button.

How to send an NPC to the traps.
--------------------------------
After the mod is installed 2 new spells are added to your charachter (Mark Victim and Take Victim), to teleport an NPC you must first cast the Mark Victim Spell on the target, next cast the Take Victim spell and select the trap you want to send them to, then use the teleport ring (Aberwiin Ring) to travel to where you sent them.

Known Bugs
----------
Sometimes when you teleport an NPC to a trap they dont spawn, try leaving the area and coming back, this sometimes helps.
You might also have problems if you try and teleport more than 1 NPC at a time to the same trap, there again it might work fine.
If an NPC is left in a trap for too long they manage to escape (god knows how!)

Update 2.06
- Fixed Dark Elven War Sabre and put it back in the mod.
- Added 2 new custom weapons, both in the dark temple.
- Added a walkway linking the higher and lowers platforms in the dark temple, and removed the teleport that was previously used to do this magically.
- Added some goblins to the dark temple and pit.
- Fixed it so random NPC's no longer use the teleporters in the teleport room.
- Improved the collision on the dragon statue, its now easier to climb up its tail.
- Fixed floating alchemy set in the light alter room.
- Added a couple small bits to display room.
- Changed the entrance and door to the pit in the dark temple.
- Put some hinges on the dark temple bedroom door, so it no longer floats when open.

Installation
------------

Extract all files from the zip to your OblivionData folder and select yes to replace any existing files.

Next run the oblivion launcher and select data files, tick aberwiin manor.esp and StaticAlchemyMod.esm in the list and run the game.

Oblivion 1.1 update or above must be installed or this mod wont work.

About this mod

I started making this mod about a year and a half ago, it took me about 8 months on and off to make the entire mod. I had the intention of adding a quest to the mod before I released, but I just never got round to it, so the mod was sat on my hard disk until now (Feb 2008), I should of released it ages ago, but hopefully theres still a good few people out there playing this game.

Update 2.06

- Several improvements and modifications to the dark temple.
- little gap in garden path fixed.
- Fixed the bit of misplaced wood sticking up through the left hand stair case in teleport room.
- Iv optimised the collision used on most of the models (the house, interiors etc.) in the mod, this will provide better graphics performance than past versions of the mod.

Update 2.04
- Added bones, blood and rotting corpses to pit of eternal pain traps, also added cobwebs.
- Made garden bigger, added garden path, some trees and a few plants. Also added a viewing area with benches.
- Added human heart on alter and necromancer banner to dark temple.
- Fixed bedroom so you dont need to close door or jump over bed to get out.
- Fixed floating books on one of the bookcases and added a missing fireplace candle in teleport room
- Fixed missing collion around front door in teleport room.
- Improved alignment of teleporters in teleport room.
- Had to remove the dark elven war sabre due to a bug, I'll try to fix it in the next update.

UPDATE 2.03
- Removed/changed bookcases in teleport room.
- Added two custom weapons.
- Added a few bits to garden.

UPDATE 2.02
- Made all areas darker, added lighting to top floor, display room and basement.

Open your map and travel to Aberwiin Manor just north west of Imperial City. Once there pick the lock of the front door. Once inside turn right and you should see a door to the basement in the right hand corner, pick the lock. Now run down to the bottom of the stairs and turn left. Look carefully at the white pillers on the big wall to the right, the 3rd piller has a very small button on the right hand side of the piller. Push the button and look to your left, a hidden stair case will open. Go down the stairs and pick the lock to the door. Run down through the tunnel and use the teleporter. Now, this is the hidden evil area, look around for an alter next to a teleporter, on the alter if you look carefully you will find the key to the manor and the Aberwiin Ring, the key will open any remaining locked doors or teleports. When you put the ring on you will recieve 2 new spells that are used to kidnap victims for the death chamber. And thats it, its all yours, enjoy :)

This isn't a manor, this is a palace. I think it looks great! Only a few minor things,

- I think it is odd the previous owner wants to get out of this manor and give it away for nothing at all, you could make a quest out of this, concering the history of the house and anything involving the nine Divines or Daedric Lords as the previous owner wasn't really a nice guy as I understand from those torture chambers. You could let the imperial legion asign the cp with a mission to kill the previous house owner because of some evil action he has commited. The reward for doing this mission could be this manor.

- I also think the teleporters in a circle don't really fit into its environment.

- The display cases are all packed together in the same room, which I think doesn't look nice at all.

- Try adding an emty libary.

- Some servants would be nice as well.

damn, where is the manor? I have extracted all the files in the directory and then i've selected them from the data file, but when I'm going to play the game, the manor isn't there... frown

Have to say this is one spectacular house. I havent even tried to find the hidden areas yet.
About the only negative thing I have to say about it is the same that DJJULIEN stated, The display cases are a bit much, and all the trunks. Reduce that by oh say 50% and wow ..

genticmonkey... sounds like you may not have the files in the right folders.. Ive gotten the dreaded ! before found out I had two data file folders.. moved the files into the main one worked fine.

Awesome mod! Only other house mod I really enjoyed was that sky castle that was posted here some time ago. I really think that the torture chambers will become useful in short time...

Also, madmax, the instructions to get to the ring/key are at the bottom of the readme:

Thanks for the nice comments everybody, Im glad people are enjoying the mod.

just a few notes on future updates based on some of the feedback I read here...

I will be adding a quest to the mod once Iv got some other things fixed first.

I agree about the teleport room, Im thinking about putting a wall between the teleports and the dining area in the next update, to seperate these two areas.

Iv had simililar feedback about there being too many display cases in the display room, I'll probably be cutting back on the number of display cases in the next updates.

Iv still got tons more work to do on this mod, but Im really glad people like it.

i feel really dumb lol i cannot for the life of me, find the key. Yes, i've read the walkthrough thing and thats why i feel dumb...still can't find it. when they say bottom of the stairs, do they mean bottom as in "the room with the archery bulls-eyes or do they mean the bottom of the firs landing where all the chairs and stuff are? either way, i still can't seem to find any "hidden button"

ehh... help? i cant update (even to 1.1!) it says something about "file names are the same but contents are different. update will now close" or some crap like that. i'd re-install but i dont want to lose my savegames... how can i back those up? thanks. (awesome house, by screenshots Rock )

Im not sure why its not updating for you, maybe a corrupt file or something. Oblivions save games are saved by default to your my documents folder -> My GamesOblivionSaves ->on the C: drive. Hope this helps.

ummm... I have a problem with this mod, when I "enable" it before i start the game, it wont start....the game that is. But as soon as I remove this mod from the list the game works fine, now I think this has got something to do with the godforsaken "windows Vista" so plz help I SO wanna check out this mod, it sounds AWESOME=)

Hi Ertylert, sounds like the mod isnt installed properly. The yellow diamonds means the game cant find the mods files. Youve probably extracted the aberwiin manor.zip file to the wrong directory. You need to extract aberwiin manor.zip to your Oblivion->Data directory, read through the Aberwiin readme for full installation instructions. Let me know if you dont get it working and I'll try to help more.

wow, i played it and it is simply amazing, tho geminas, the women that cant die, is really annoying, there was a bug teleporting her under the rat cage in the lava and now she is screaming all the time, hope you fix this with the next version Two Thumbs Up!

all my ESP files are in the Data folder....its impossible for me to place them wrong because my effin windows vista keeps on askin me to confirm this and confirm that and do u want to place that file in that folder...do u REALLY want to place it there and so on, so all the ESP files are in the right folder so nothing there....but thanks for the reply...

I have the Manor key and ring, but no spells in the inventory

Monopoly40K - Glad you like the mod, Iv just put version 2.07 of the mod on this site, if you install it, it should put the immortal prisoner back into her cage.

Ertylert - Is the meshes folder in the right place, inside the Oblivion data directory there should be a folder called meshes, and inside that another folder called aberwiin manor that contains the model files. If the meshes folders is in the wrong place it would cause the problem your having with the yellow diamonds.

Xbladekiller - Thats a very odd problem, the spells should be in the lesser powers area of the spells list, Im not sure what could be causing the spells to be missing.

Thanks for your feedback

I have found the Mark Target in the Lesser Spells, as you said, but cannot see the Take Victim
Should this part of the spell also be in the Lesser Spell area or am I supposed to do something else once the person has been 'Marked?

Hi
I have now found the 2nd spell ie Take Victim

Think this mod is cool - a little sadistic, but still brill

Loved the seat over looking the lava pit!!!!!

Noticed though, that the ocra and rats seemed to come out of their cages. Is this normal?

Glad you like the mod, yes it is a little sadistic smile

The rats etc should'nt be outside the cages, it only happens on some computers, you can use the mark/take victim spells to put them back into the cages whilst I figure out how to fix the bug in a future release.

I strongly agree with #3. Without a quest, it's just another house. And a very large one with a lot of walking involved. stick out tongue

The map marker is close to Imperial city, to the north west.

Thanks Azura974, to get into the dark temple you need to find the hidden button in the basement. Its on the 3rd piller accross on the big wall at the bottom of the right hand set of stairs. Once youve got inside the temple the ring and key for the house are on the dark alter. Theres a full walkthrough for the mod in the Aberwiin Readme file.

Theres no password on the zip file, I havent got a clue why it asking you for one. Try downloading version 2.07 of the mod, its the latest version, theres a link for it near the top of this page.

Dude, I loved it! First time for me getting a mod for a game. Ive never been one to go for mods until way after I beat the game. I had this game for the xbox and while I can't say I beat every quest and found every location.. I did buy all the expansions and extras that were offered. I racked in over 200+ hours of gameplay. I dont have an xbox any more.. so I got this game for the PC and the mod was AWESOME. I thought the wizard tower (Something Lair) was awesome, but you beat the pants off of it.

Only problem I had was this... My own rats tried to attack me haha. Most of my ideas for improvement have already been stated. I do wonder about the well at the front yard. I get a "door cursor" when I walk up to it..but I haven't tried to walk up to it since I got the key.

Even if you don't make changes, I give it 10/10. All you could do now is make it 11/10 lol.

One question though.. with the lava pit and the lever... how do I put someone into the cage (the one that you can control to go up and down)?

Thanks BattleMage, Im glad u like the mod man, cheers for letting me know what u think. About the well, Iv been meaning to make it into another way in and out of the dark temple for ages, i just keep forgeting about it, when im working on the updates lol. ill definatly get it working in the next update.

Princeofdarkness, that sounds like an installation problem. you fall through the floor because the mod files are not in the right place. I recommend u remove the mod and install it again, theres full instructions on how to install it in the Aberwiin readme.txt. I'll be releasing an oblivion mod manager version of Aberwiin manor pretty soon, which will make the mod much easier to install.

Battlemage, btw i forgot to tell you, all need to do to get prisoners into that cage is install version 2.07 of Aberwiin manor, after that u'll have the new option on the take victim spell, there a link to update 2.07 near the top of this webpage.

Theprinceofdarkness, yes u definatly need to have Oblivion update 1.1.511 installed, its available on this website if u need a copy.

I love your display room in the manor.

I collect unusual weapons and armor from other mods and proudly display them in the display room of the manor.

But I have aquired a rather peculure set of items:

Scythes, from the mod in the the link below

Name of mod: tda_scythes_mod_v11.2.zip

as an idea, wich can be honoraly denied,
it woud be cool if there were a few display cases that could fit these scythes and other such items.

Just thought I'd pass this along, but it seems when you use the Ring that comes with this mod (awesome by the way), when you are in the Shivering Isles, the game will still believe you are there, instead of Cyrodill. The sky will resemble SI, and a majority of the NPCs will do the I HAVE NO GREETING thing. The map also shows the SI, but I found this can be corrected by simply using map travel to a point in the SI (as it is on your map) and travel through the door to Cyrodill, and you should be fine.
