Better Storms & Weather (0.9) - File Description  


Description:
-Featuring MUCH Better Lightning Strikes During Storms & MUCH More Immersive Sounding Weather

Experience BETTER STORMS with BETTER LIGHTNING and BETTER THUNDER with my re-write of Lightning strikes During Storms (PJ's), 8 brand new high quality thunder sounds (from More Immersive Sounding Weather), enhanced OB weather sounds (wind, rain, & thunder), and enhanced rain and thunderstorm settings.

Better Storms & Weather (BS&W) replaces PJ's Better Ligtning Strikes During Storms & PsychEroc's More Immersive Sounding Weather (MIS-W), so if you use this mod please disable PJ's & MIS-W. BS&W also includes newer versions of some files included in Oblivion Stereo Sound Overhaul (OSSO) v0.9.

NOTE: the v0.9 release is NOT compatible with NE/NW, but the v1.0 release will be!


v0.9 COMPATIBILITY

NOT COMPATIBLE WITH:
-x- PJ's Lightning Strikes During Storms by PJ (BS&W replaces PJ's mod with a revised and re-written version)
-x- More Immersive Sounding Storms (MIS-W) by PsychEroc (BS&W replaces my old mod with a revised version)
-x- Real Thunder Sounds by CrazyAce (these may conflict with my new sounds)
-x- Natural Environments/Weather (BS&W v0.9 is NOT compatible, but BS&W v1.0 will be combatible with NE/NW!!!!)

this is a WEATHER mod that changes SOUNDS how on earth r u supposed 2 put a sound in a pic???

no affence to the author but how can you make better sounds then the original PROFESSIONAL did? i gues it can be possible...i will have to download and seesmile

Not many games have the best possible sounds in their stock form. Call of Duty 2 for example has some of the worst (concerning realism) sounds for weapon fire I could think of in a WW2 game, that's why allot of modders are making sound mods for CoD2. Although the Oblivion sounds are good, they could be better, and a bit more realistic.

The realism level done by professionals is not always "as real as possible".
They will do sounds that are "realistic", but rarely "real" - as this would actually be bad for the majority of games.

They almost always get the real sound (where possible) but then it gets processed to make it acceptable to the majority of "Joe Blogg, Member of the Public" who may not have heard an actual Colt 45 hand-gun, but will have an 'idea' of what they 'think' the weapon 'should' sound like.
ie: the developers make the sounds more like we expect them to be.

Also there are so many sound set-ups (stereo, headset/speakers, 4.1, 5.1, 7.1, etc...) and sound engines & cards that the actual sound files have to be processed to be "generic" (unless the developer has the time, data space and capability to make sound sets for every type of speaker setup.

And, finally, there is the simple fact that sometimes the real sounds just don't sound appealing (guns are extrememly loud, but gamers prefer them to be muted in favour of being able to hear during a firefight & not be deafened for a considerable time thereafter). To that end they reduce certain noise levels etc.

A prime example is Forgotten Hope (for the Battlefield 1942 game) - they created what they have touted as "real sounds" but most of them can actually be a hinderance to game-play (afterall, it's a game, not real war) compared to the "realistic" muted versions in the original game.

Have any of you ever experienced EAX (Enviromental Audio Effects) in Oblivion?this one time a couple of moths ago i noticed there was echoeek!i had started a new game so it was in the imperial prison, it was really cool because i didnt know there was EAX in oblivion, so i restarted the game and EAX was gone??? So how do you turn it on? i have a Creative Xfi Extreme Music card.

How are real gun sounds a hinderance to gameplay? There is no way you have your speakers turned up so loud that the sounds actually deafen you like real gunfire so that makes no sense. Anyone who has ever played Red Orchestra knows that real life weapon sounds only add to the gameplay experience.

I will dl this anyway. If this addon just changes the lightning effect. Then I don't see there being a reason for pics then. Downloading now
