Description:

The "Don't Close MY Gates" Mod

This is a simple quest modification for Oblivion that prevents the main quest from closing all the gates to
Oblivion when you complete it. In other words, you can go and beat the game, and THEN worry about all those
nice enchanted and daedric items in the plains of Oblivion. I have also added a story quest to follow the
completion of the game that *should* tell you approximately how many are left.

This mod is in alpha stage, I know that the quest when active does not crash MY computer, but I havent tested
the script completely. I cannot guarentee that it will work in any way or not destroy your computer.
Also, if you already have completed the game, this script DOES NOT reopen the gates.

Feel free to mod this mod to your heart's content, just please leave my name in the readme somewhere...

To install, just copy the plugin file to your Oblivion\Data directory...

i have barely even touched the main story, though i have accidentaly stumbled upon several oblivion gates. This game rocks. Too bad for the loading times and pop-up though, without that the game would truly be perfect.

Ok...ive done some testing (finally) and the script works in it's primary function...the quest counter doesn't work, however...

You know what would improve the game even more? Logical merchendise avilable to all and proper levelling.

Also, it would be better if you can find a spell that allows you to revisit closed oblivion gates.

Will this re-open Oblivion Gates if you' ve already finished the main quest, or only stop them from closing if you haven't already?

Well I got the spell and tried it on a gate base (the glowing ground infront of the gate) and it didnt work. So I went to another tried it and worked. I thought all was well until I tried it again I a different Oblivion gate and it didn't work. So I went back to the same gate that had worked before and it failed. Any suggestions?

You know just making a mod that when you close the oblivion gate EVERY ITEM comes out with you could solve this problem lol. You'd think thats what would happen. I mean you and your allies just pop up but where are all the pain in the you know what npcs I did my best to avoid wander off to? Now that is a thought to ponder..... O btw awesome mod big grin

I don't understand this at all. I had the original version of the patch installed and I went through the first Oblivion quest at Kvatch. I saved the game before finishing the level and jumped through. Nothing happened. The gate is still closed and nothing reopens it.

Next, I installed version .2, which I believe is the latest version of the Don't Close My Gates mod. I reloaded my game and finished the level again. When I came out the gate still closed. I went to Edgar in the market district of Imperial City. I can't find any spell on him as advised.

Also, there is no trace of the portal counter in the quest book as this thread indicates should be there.

What am I doing wrong? I need to reopen the gate and finish exploring the area. I didn't finish exploring because I assumed I'd be able to go back in anytime I want.

Do I gotta close every single Oblivion Gate before the mod kicks in or something? Someone please help. Thanks.

I installed 0.2 latest version and after I completed the main quest and the dont close my gates quest started it got stuck in getstage 101 and would tell me that 21 gates are left open EVERY 3 seconds repeatedly. I installed the original alpha release and it worked just fine. FYI.
