This mod makes sure that the gates to Oblivion won't disappear once you've completed the Main Quest. So now you can venture back into the realms of Oblvion and resume kicking those Daedra around smile

Readme File:
Don't Close MY Gates Mod
Version 0.2 (Probably Final, unless something else goes wrong)

Alright, this script has been fixed, tested, and should work with a reasonable
chance of not destroying your copy of Oblivion utterly and completely.

As before, the primary purpose of this file is to keep those Oblivion gates open
after you complete the main story quest. With this version, the quest counter
*should* work properly. Also, Edgar in the IC Marketplace has the spell suggested
by zixinus (many thanks) which re-opens an Oblivion gate when you cast it on a
closed one. For some reason, on reopened gates, you have to activate the base of
the gate instead of the firey part...

Intallation is simple, just copy it into your Oblivion/Data directory.
If you have the previous version, just overwrite and you will not
lose your gates if you've already completed the game. If, however
you do not have the old version and have beaten the game, you will
have to use the spell to open new gates...

Thats all...as before, feel free to mod this all you want, just give me
credit (and those whose ideas have been integrated into it)!

Awesome tweak! but could you modify it so that the gates will stay closed until i choose to reopen them with a spell? or is that how it works? also, would be nice if the gates were clickable on the proper fiery part instead of the bottom, but great job overall, many thanks.

I already beat the game before putting on either mod. When I try to re-open the gates, the base of the gate lights up, and a puff of circular smoke rises up from the ground, but I still can't get in. Am I doing something wrong?

I don't understand this at all. I had the original version of the patch installed and I went through the first Oblivion quest at Kvatch. I saved the game before finishing the level and jumped through. Nothing happened. The gate is still closed and nothing reopens it.

Next, I installed version .2, which I believe is the latest version of the Don't Close My Gates mod. I reloaded my game and finished the level again. When I came out the gate still closed. I went to Edgar in the market district of Imperial City. I can't find any spell on him as advised.

Also, there is no trace of the portal counter in the quest book as this thread indicates should be there.

What am I doing wrong? I need to reopen the gate and finish exploring the area. I didn't finish exploring because I assumed I'd be able to go back in anytime I want.

Do I gotta close every single Oblivion Gate before the mod kicks in or something? Someone please help. Thanks.

I installed 0.2 latest version and after I completed the main quest and the dont close my gates quest started it got stuck in getstage 101 and would tell me that 21 gates are left open EVERY 3 seconds repeatedly. I installed the original alpha release and it worked just fine. FYI.

HEY just a kind of a wierd question. I like to close oblivion gates, but at the same time i don't want them all closed at once when u complete the main quest. So what i'm asking is after you beat the main quest and lets say i go into an oblivion gate and get the sigil stone will it close? I hope the answer is yes. After all you can re open it using a spell....

When I tried this mod out it didn't seem to quite work. It installed properly and ran fine, but when I went to open doors to leave, I could not open them. So I could get into buildings/houses, but not out. If it had worked, I'd have said 10/10 because that is an awesome idea. Darn load times are excessive and redundant, this would come in handy big time. big grin

I also experienced the quest popup every 3 seconds after completing main quest just like Mhowatt claimed happen to him.

I am disappointed.

I paid no attention to the fat that the gates closed or opened during/comleted main quest.

Finally, I cann kill some more daedrea lords!
