Kumiko Manor (2c) - File Description  


Description:
The original homes in Oblivion just not doing it for you? Looking for a place that has it all, and more? Well look no further! The prestigious Kumiko family has decided to leave Cyrodiil for their summer home in Morrowind; and their manor at Topal Bay must be sold! Academician Nwahs, Professor of Alchemy at the Cyrodiil University is in charge of the sale; and for a mere seventy five thousand gold this illustrious home can be yours. Feel free to view the flyers placed around Leyawiin for more information. The Acedmician himself is currently down at the house managing the estate and awaiting a buyer.

The manor is located about one mile south-southeast of the town of Leyawiin, follow the main road east out of Leyawiin and take the cobblestone path that branches from it. You shouldn't encounter any dangers along the road until you near Tidewater Cave which has its entrance nearby. You will be greeted by an expansive island with lush vegetation and a well kept landscape.

The back yard is completely circled in an impenetrable wooden fence and secured by a gate tall enough to keep even acrobats out. As you enter you will find to your left the unique and unsurpassed Kumiko Alchemic Laboratory. It has enough storage space for every ingredient in Tamriel as well as a unique set of apparati. Activating them begins your alchemic experiment immediately without need of any apparati in your inventory. Included as well is the Alchemy Ingredient chest, it can hold up to two different ingredients and over the weeks time the locals will gather a large quantity for your use. Unlike those greedy mages in the Arcane University, these ingredients stay in the chest forever, though a friendly reminder alerts you once a week has passed and his ingredients are gathered.

To your right you will see an amazing replica of a priory that acts as the Kumiko's private alchemy garden. Outside is a selection of all the choice food ingredients for everyday consumption. While on the inside is a selection of all ingredients all over Tamriel, even ingredients normally only found in Oblivion can be found here growing for your collection. Across from the garden is the elegant backyard deck of the manor, with an amazingly intricate brick paved porch. The deck has an afternoon sitting table to relax in the hot sun of Topal Bay.

On the small island to the west is a mage tower to rival any in all Cyrodiil, inside you can find a collection of supplies for any number of spell and enchantment creations. A library with every book that you could ever want is also present along with a stock of useful scrolls, items, and soul stones. Through the portal behind the desk you will find yourself high above the Kumiko estate, with an amazing view and seating for any number of friends. It truly is a mages paradise. For those of you who find your talents best used on the sea than on land there is a small boat docking facility complete with a lighthouse attached to the island. The lighthouse can be turned on and off at your will!

Onto the interior of the glorious manor itself. The first floor contains a magnificent dining hall to the west for any number of guests. Two storage rooms near the front contain supplies for any such gathering and any needs you may require. In the east wing there is a small merchant shop, though currently unmanned hiring a new servant for the job would be possible. Also in the east wing lies the door to the basement which serves as a servant quarters, perfect for any house guests or servants you may hire.

On the second floor you will find an armory as well as a state of the art training facility. The armory has enough display cases and chests to hold any number of weapons and armor sets as well as anything else you may find the need to place there. The local weapon seller from Leyawiin stops by every few days and refills the large chest in the back room that contains a supply of Daedric arrows for your use. Across the way in the training room you will find a small sparring room to your right, though that is not nearly half the fun. Once the training arena has been unlocked you can enter and pull the lever for an experience the likes of which cannot be found elsewhere. Choose a combat level, but be wise about it. Based on your choice a small band of leveled skeletons will appear and attack you. You are automatically given a special training heal which lasts for 2 minutes, and a small quantity of superior healing potions.

Following the trap door down in the training room leads to the ultimate challenge, the archery range! Choose from any of six stations with stationary targets. The two middle stations also have the ability to start the moving target practice, watch as your skeleton target runs across the room time and time again for your hitting pleasure. Notice that each skeleton you kill in either the arena or the archery range earns you training points, which can be turned in for gold at the chest upstairs.

Moving on to the third floor we find to the east a strange door which leads to the amazing Kumiko study. It is a nice and cozy room designed to relax the soul while a fire provides soothing heat. It has plenty of storage space for those must-have unique collectibles. Finally across from the study we come to the piece de resistance, the Kumiko master bedroom. Inside is a small array of display cases and desks for your personal items that you would not wish to place elsewhere. In one of the display cases you will find the legendary Daedrofaer, left by the Kumiko family when they departed. In the chests above the bed on the windowsill you will find a heavy and light armor set the likes of which cannot be found elsewhere in Tamriel. Each set is well balanced and is perfect for any adventurer.

If you purchase the home please take the time to read through the various guides throughout the manor placed by the Academician. He will give you more information about the home and its functions. The home really is worth the price tag, and you should go buy it before the Academician goes insane!

1. INSTALLING THE PLUGIN
*****************************************************************
1- You MUST have the latest Oblivion patch is installed!

2- Place KumikoManor.esp file into your "Oblivion\Data" folder.
If asks to overwrite, choose "Yes".

3- Place the sound, meshes, and textures folders in "Oblivion\Data"

4- When launching the game, select data files and click

2- Make sure to back up your Save Game, some changes may cause

-Added backdoor with roofed deck and brick paved porch.
-Removed storage drawer in kitchen with scale placed on it to make room for door.

1.5a Fourth patch - 4/19/2006
-Removed NPC Pathing to fix the crash issue, game now functions properly.

1.5 Third patch - 4/18/2006
-Reduced lag inside house to minimal, house runs smoothly in all rooms.
-HDR Detection script modified to remove extra lighting from windows.
-Daylight detection added to deactivate fireflies on mage balcony and turn off sunlight inside.
-Added balcony to mage tower with seating and dinner table.
-Pathing for NPC's has been added, all companions and animals should work fine now.
-Archery Range added into training room, accessible via the trap door.
-Training supply chest in archery range restocks with arrows and bows for use with the range.
-Arena skeletons slightly improved.
-Training Points system added, kill mobs, get points, turn in for gold.
-Fixed missing alchemy chests and added missing ingredients to alchemy chest script.

-Reduced lag in manor to bearable levels for both HDR and non-HDR users.
-Included script which checks for HDR active and disables lights that cause lag.
-Included script which detects if it is night, and turns off daylight from windows.
-Added more clutter to home in some open spots.
-Fixed bug with cave-ins in well not going off fast enough.
-Fixed bug with Well quest beginning if you fast traveled to the manor.
-Added a stable to the back yard with fence and gate.
-Added alphabetically ordered chests for each alchemy ingredient at the lab.
-Reduced days until well quest starts to 10 days due to popular request.

-Reduced lag in manor entryway and yard successfully.
-Added slightly more clutter around the house (art, books, etc).
-As a result of lessening the lag, ambient light is slightly less.

5. Known Bugs/Issues
*****************************************************************

To complete the new dungeon you must set the setting bBorderRegionsEnabled to 0 in your Oblivion.ini
which is located in your My Documents\Games\Oblivion\ folder.

To avoid crashing issues you MUST install the Beta (or greater) patch for Oblivion.

There are some conflicts with mods that modify races, these conflicts are harmless.

6. Companion Notes
*****************************************************************

The companion NPC like most does have lag between stages due to scripting, especially
on initial config choices. Please allow 5-10 seconds for your choices to become valid.

If you choose Swordsman as her class, give her the longsword and claymore and then switch
her combat syle twice via the dialogue option to get it set correctly.

If you chose Swordsman and gave her the bow, she will use it until the enchants run out.

If you give her the Ring of Shadowfax, she will ride a summonable horse when you ride one.

She can use Varla and Welkynd stones, however the Varla Stones only effect the default
weapon set given to you in the dungeon. She can also use Coca-Cola to heal herself to full.

For best results always use her default gear, though she will use pretty much anything.

I wonder, your script for "detects if it is night, and turns off daylight from windows. - can that be easily applied to other interior areas?

If so, could you apply it to the rest of the games interiors and release that as a separate mod? I know it's a daft thing, but it annoys me that there is so much detail in the game, yet the windows shine brightly whether it's day/night or clear/cloudy/thunder/snow, etc...

I'm awed, stunned, shell-shocked, dumbfounded, impressed, amazed, excited, obsessed, ecstatic, and I could ramble the rest of the night but I won't since you'll just tune me out....

In short: ohmygodiloveitiloveitiloveitiloveiti... wow. just wow. simply wow, cause there is no other words describing how much I adore this mod and I haven't even tried it out yet, just bought the house and spent the last ten minutes just wandering about and ooh-ing and aah-ing. I squealed when I found the archery range and dashed off for my arrows and best bow, but on the way back i realised I had missed a few rooms and found the study. Squealed again. Started planning additions, like another bookcase, loads and loads of books... i love books, and I have a mod which gives me a shop where I can but bookcases, so I'm gonna cram it with books. Then I toddled outside to take a look at the view, and fouind the mage's tower. Shrieked like a little girl at the selection of soul gems. Tried out the portal and squealed at the gorgeous view from the top of the tower. Saw something looking like a temple, dashed over and hollered "my prayers have been ANSWERED! Praise the nine!" At the sight of the alchemy centre... Checked out my new greenhouse and squealed again... the fast-traveled to Skingrad to get my stuff.

I'm. In. Love. *squeals and kisses deed to Kumiko manor* Me wuw you.

loaded it into german version, was great until i entered the house. could not get back out. Has anyone else this problem. Shawn Dworshak may be I can tranlate it,

I try to get into the templar or something crypt but it said on people of the night go in how do i get in and how do i get in the other crypt.Also how do you get servants but otherwise this is a great mod 10/10confusedTwo Thumbs Up!Rock

i KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT EASIER TO GET TO FOLLOW MY FEW STEPS TO DO SO!!!!
1.Pick map to make door or Teleport to the place I choose Imperial Prison and this sub ICImperialLegionHQ05
2.select door through world objects cato. and pick door and i picked trap door but anything else works!!
3. drag door to map and make it perfect if want but not needed just need to reach.
4. double click door and click teleport.
5. So far I just did to my map but if can find his try try u can.
6. FINAL: save as the sub like ICImperialLegionHQ05 or W/e it will load in data files if selected... AND DONE!!!!

I cant get it to work, but it sounds great. I installed the latest patch for oblivion [1.1] I installed it, checked it out, and everything, but it is not on the island. Please helpfrown

Great Mod. Has almost everything that a manor should have. Love it. Best house I ever owned.

Ran accross only a few problems/bugs.
Thought that there was suppose to be a horse available in the stable. No horse. Is there a quest to complete before the horse is available?

Got the key to get into the crypt. Now need the second key. Anyone know where it can be found?

its a bit stupid iv already been a vampire and so cant get it en also no servants or guards en no clues on how to get em either other than these probs its the best mod iv played on so far 9/10
please reply coz i really want to used this mod to its full!!

After you've owned Kumiko Manor for a while, the minotaur gang will open up the well. I'd advise you to get seriously tooled up before going down there because, believe me, this one's going to be TOUGH! The enchanted armour, weapons etc in the manor are a start, but they're not really enough.

My advice is this: bring lots of Chamelion potions with you and the most powerful weapons you can lay your hands on. If memory serves correctly, I had to face five minotaurs (bad enough), six minotaur lords (even tougher) and to cap it all, the Minotaur of Tidewater (an absolute giant and by far the greatest challenge). I used a silly amount of Chamelion potions to sneak attack continuously while staying completely invisible (hint: Chamelion potion effects are ****ulative - drink as many as you need to raise your Chamelion to 100 or over e.g. if your potions are Chamelion 25%, you will need to drink four at a time for complete invisibility). Bear in mind you can only drink four potions at a time, and keep an eye on the effect's duration.

This way, you can remain invisible even when attacking, but stay in sneak mode to keep getting those Critical Damage bonuses. You won't get hit either!

Once you've disposed of the Minotaur of Tidewater and got the heirloom key, open the door in the far wall and there, among the other treasures in the cask, is the Ring of Brego. Equip the ring whenever you need a horse, and Brego will appear.

As for the servants, a few days after you've completed the quest, you'll find a letter from the Academician telling you he's persuaded a merchant to set up shop in the east wing of the manor. Talk to the merchant and he'll arrange to hire whatever staff you want. Be warned, it's expensive and the extra people will hurt the framerate. The maid's pretty hot but you may want to kill the obnoxious lab assistant...

I've started to get odd encumbrance messages for Brego. At first, it would be a minus figure, a bit like Feather, but now I'm getting the message "Brego is over-encumbered" even when I'm not riding him or using his saddlebags.

I'm using version 2c which, as far as I know, is the latest version. Anybody got any ideas?

Just discovered it was my Shadowroot Signet ring that was causing the problem. Removing and re-equiping it made Brego ridable again, thank The Nine!

I've installed the latest patch(1.1) but my game still crashes. It happened when I was doing the well quest. I beat all the minitours, the message came up and I tried to save but I crashed and got the windows error message with the buttons don't send and send error.

Help???

I went in to the family crypt and finished it but when i try to leave it tells me I can't go that way and to turn around. Do i need to have the borders turned off ? If so, how do I do that? Any help is greatly appreciated.

if it crashes, it must be your system. i used to have a crappy system, and it lagged and crashed a lot. then i upgraded and now I can run Oblvion fine with everything on high.

went in to the family crypt and finished it i talk to that girl who wanted her equipment so i got i but then nothing happens she wont take it.and also when i try to leave it tells me I can't go that way and to turn around.Is there something i am not doing .

first download stuff from 11s website then put the files into oblivondata then if it has not done it right click then go down to 7s then open archive then copy not extract the file to obliviondata and u should have it but if it dosnt plz post and ill try and help smile

Has anyone finished the Kumiko Manor Crypt Tower im stuck on the 4th floor i cant seem to be able to find a way to open the door to that demora i am sure i have pushed all of the buttons on the opening panels but unless i have missed something it doesnt work. can anyone help me??

i solved this what you need to do is pressing the buttens in a specific order if it doesn't make a sound and the sword moves its ok if it does make a sound then you need to start over mostly the butten is at on of the sides of the sword

i have a semi serious issue. when i first arrived at the premisis, some land was raised higher than the other, and when i got closer, i found that the bridge was not connected to the land, and the house was just floating above the water. so i can only acess the house and nothing else. i was able to buy the house and stuff. but i cant do anything, and the well i somewhere underwater i guess. suggestions?

Great mod!
I have an issue with it though:
The Black Soul Gem altar in the vampire crypt just eats soul gems. A couple of times, they appeared on top, but usually they just disappear forever.
If I drop a grand soul gem on top of it, whether empty or filled with a grand soul, wait for the shaft of light to shine on the altar, and then cast soul trap on the altar, nothing happens.

Also, could you make the scrolls that describe how to use everything, permanent? Once you read them, they're gone...

I've been trying to get into Teskar Kumiko's crypt for a little while now, and I'm totally stumped.

Yes, I'm a vampire and, yes, I've been trying to get in at night. For a little while, I thought it might have been the level of vampirism that was giving me difficulty, but now I'm at 100% and I still can't get in. I get the message, "You who are of the night may enter," but the door still requires a key (which I don't believe I have).

Is there a key required to get into the crypt and, if so, where is it? Or am I doing something else wrong?

I've solve the Crypt quest and now I have to exit the Tower with that girl I don't remember the name. BUT, if I go to the nearest exit, it say to me "Cannot go this way, turn back!" And if I go the other way, going backwards from where I was come, i cannot exit the Tower because just as I am in that surreal world into the Crypt I DIE, even if I activate God Mode!
I've already noticed that other people has the same problem. It would be nice, if you made a mod (great mod! by the way), you help people to solve its, eventually, BUGS.

First of all, Great MOD.... however all i get where the sword should be in the bedroom is a big exclamation mark. have i installed it wrong, i've checked and i've got all the files but did i put some of them in the wrong folder
