Kvatch Aftermath- FINAL (1.31) - File Description  

Editor's Note: Sorry guys. This mod has been around for months now, and we unfortunately never got it in our mailbox.

Anyways, this mod is the final update to the excellent Kvatch Rebuilt mod. What this does, if you guys don't know, is start a quest for the player to become the count of Kvatch, and start a series of stages to rebuild the city to its former glory. Once you accomplish this, the refugees from the city will pour back into the city and live their lives, as well as the workers who came to help rebuild. Just like any other NPC in the cities, they'll come out and do their daily activities.

The quests leading up to the city's reconstruction will require money obviously. Some may require combat. But this is a very good mod, imo, as it gives you control of a mighty city, and more importnately, have it rebuilt rather than it laying destroyed and that priest blabbering about how the gods have abandeoned them. I recommend this highly.

This mod is pretty compatible with most mods I use. It is obviously not compatible with any mods that make any sort of modification to the Kvatch area.

Only Run this mod after you have completed the Kvatch Quests and are the Hero of Kvatch. It is now safe to run Kvatch Aftermath right after you have saved kvatch. So you no longer have to finish the entire plot to use this mod.

About Kvatch Aftermath.

Kvatch Version 1.3 is a fully functional city, almost every building is occupied and every citizen has a life of their own. Follow them around and you will see for your self. Kvatch Citizens enjoy walks in the memorial guards, preying but most like to drink and can be found in one of the 2 pubs usually when they are not busy. Others will visit the castle and admire the trophy Cabinets.

Provided you saved Kvatch, you enter the city as the Hero of Kvatch and have the option to become Count of the City and control its developement. From then on you need to speak to various people to find new quests that will allow you to improve the city further. Some NPCs may not have any quests for you at first but as you develope the city, their needs will grow and quests will become available. Each most quests cost you money, some are combat related. Each quest leads to ever more expensive improvements becoming affordable. Though you may need to donate some money to finish the city renovations at times.

Some renovations benefit you directly but most improve the city it self. Eventually you will finish upgrading kvatch and it will become the city it once was. But at first the only renovations you will see completed are the ones the citizens have done on their own.

Kvatch has an active night life but most people are in bed by Midnight, at Midnight the former citizens who died during the battle walk around the areas they once knew. Some look out over the city with ghostly eyes, others appear to wait around places they knew in life. By dawn they are gone and the city returns to normal.

Survivors have moved back to the city and new citizens have joined them. Migrant workers have appeared to help with the rebuilding and theres talk of several Cults, Guilds bandits showing an interest in the city in future addons for this mod :D

So the story continues but not in this mod, the future will be unvailed in addons made for kvatch aftermath from myself and other mod makers. You will get to chose the ones you want instead of me forcing them on you. Good Guilds, Bad Cults, Murderous Bandits raiding the city, all your choice to install and use and all coming soon.

Clearly I have not told you everything here, all the feature lists of previous readmes are gone. So you will have to figure it all out your self.

Just extract the zip in to your oblivion folder. Any textures or meshes added are found in the kvatchaftermath folder in data/textures and data/meshes. So you can easily find them and delete them if you want too. DO NOT USE A SAVE MADE INSIDE THE OLD KVATCH. Leave Kvatch and then save before installing this mod.

If your updating, say yes to any requests to overwrite files. Only Kvatch Aftermath's own files will be overwriten.

Updating from previous versions:

Before updating this mod, move your character to any town other than KVatch and save you game, then enable the mod. Wait for 24 hours then return to kvatch. During the first Game day after the update you may experience a few problems until the updates take place. After that the game should run smoothly.

UPDATE: 1.31 fixes some early quests that broke as a result of 1.3. If you started using this mod in 1.3 and have done some quests, disable kvatch, load and save your game anywhere except kvatch and then enable kvatch again. Sorry but its the only to ensure the quests will run correctly. Alternatively, just an earlier save, works just as well. If you have already done the stables quest in an earlier version you should be ok, just update the mod normally.

Mod compatibility:

OOO1.3 Users
Tip from WalterGr for you, use the mod manager to make Kvatch load before OOO1.3 to avoid a crash. Walters issue was a crash whilst leveling but I do not see that being the only issue likely to come up because of this. So its good advice.

"Toaster Says Share" mod
This mod allows you to turn any NPC in to a companion and im told it works with Kvatch aftermath by several of my mods users. I have supported this mod directly by adding 4 personal Guards next to the Counts Throne that are safe to use as Companions. Because you can now recruit these guides if you need too, the entire Aid for Bruma issue that was a concern in earlier versions of this mod is now totally obselete thanks to Toasters excellent Says share mod. I recommend you try it out your self since these guards can be used on any quest and not just the Aid for Bruma Quest. They respawn and have lootable corpses too so any equipement you share can be taken back if they die.

Tip: Its safe to make any Kvatch Guard a companion in 1.3, they all respawn too.

To other Mod Makers.

Mod makers should monitor the thread below in my forums for detailed information on the kvatch aftermath mod as i write it. It will contain lots of useful info about how i did things, areas you should not touch and ways to add your mod to mine so yours appears as part of my upgrade quests if you wish. The thread has been created ready for me to write up the details of this final version and list any changes due to bug fixes that might effect your mods.


If mod makers who plan on making their own addons for kvatch aftermath use that thread, then we can work together to ensure all addons made for it work correctly and make full use of any feature that may already exist since i'll be there to tell you about them and tell whats safe or whats not safe. No need to guess how i did stuff, just ask. I am actually look forward to seeing some of the improvements other mod makers make to this mod.

I know ive been a little short with some of you and warmer towards others, its the stresses of seeing a problem but not getting detailed info so i can fix it if it needed fixing. But all the advice, feedback and assistance has paid off and 1.3 should be extremely stable and a lot more interesting because of your help.

I downloaded this before, but an earlier edition. It kept corrupting my files, and every time I tried to fast travel my game would crash and my file would be corrupted. Download with caution.

yeah sometimes if u download a large mod it corrups ur game... try to turn off save at fast travel and autosave and try to save indoors only and it should work.

looks good, but if I were you I'd actually run this after you have visited Kvatch in the "Allies for Bruma" quest first , because you might wreck a little bit of the story.

cool I will beat the game for about the 8th time ( I kept screwing up my game with WAAAYYYY to many mods and I kept beating the game first before I put mods back in, then start from the beggining again) and then download this mod. Looks Awsome cant wait to play it. 10/10 To #4, there is no clutter because people of Kavatch have taken what little they had with them and set it up in Kavatch meening that there wont be much clutter because of lack of stuff to clutter with.

Niiiiice! Love it!!!!! I always wanted to see Kvatch rebuilt. According to the NPCs, it even had an arena... Does this rebuilt one have an arena? ^^;'' In any case, this rocks. So many quests! Now I'll never get to the main quest. xD

I don't know if I am the only one with this problem but anyone I speak to says something like this: 'Why do you disturb me, i must clean the shrine and sleep. i haven't slept for a while.'
I have waited 24 hours but the problem still occured.

This mod is good quality but it is titled Kvatch Aftermath! Kvatch Rebuilt is a completely different mod which isn't even completed yet, I recomend the title to be changed to match the readme as many people may get mislead. 9/10 though, good mod.

I just whant to say thanxs. Nice try to make a cool mod. It was a really good idea. But it is many bugs in this damn version. Some doors dont exists. And no clutter really disturbs me. But it is a really good idea just keep work at it! But is it ok for me to try to make this mod better if I just to keep my version for my self?confused

I have finished the kvatch siege and taken Martin from the chapel but im still unsure if im the Hero, no one has said it yet. Anyway i start oblivion and get the note, i cant fast travel or nothing, so i get on my [stolen] horse go to vatch and enter into it, then when i start to load the chapel ESIV crashes. it's happened 4 times

I have installed and run version 2.3 from http://www.respawn.co.uk, and it works fine so far, I have invested maybe 20,000 in the town already, i need 100,000(!!!) to renovate the castle, and it seems to work fine with Oscuro's Overhaul version 1.3.Rock

The only problem I have come across so far, is that when the NPC's 'speak' (because there is no voice acting you can only read their words) the text disappears a little too fast, so you have to read fast! frown

It would be nice to be able to go back and read it, but I dont know if it is stored anywhere.

All in all a 9.5/10, it's damn good, but the speed of the text meant i lost some of it.

It's been posted a few times already, but whenever I talk to a person in the town I get a message about not disturbing them as they need to sleep in the shire....
I am running the latest patch and have disabled most of the active mods.
I can enter the town but it is already fully rebuilt (don't know if it should be I thought you had to pay to rebuild it), but yeah I cannot talk to anyone - merchant, general townspeople or the count.

when i try to talk to savilan matius to do the quest i just get the 'Why do you disturb me, i must clean the shrine and sleep. i haven't slept for a while.' message like mtrnir and fiend
have you got any ideas what the problem is or how to fix it
it looks like a great mod and the city looks good but i cant do the quest

I reinstalled the mod, got v1.3, and then downloaded 2.5. I've closed the Kvatch oblivion gate, gotten Martin to cloud ruler temple, installed the mod, asked for aid from Kvatch, then updated to 2.5, slept for 24 hours in Kvatch, slept for 24 hours in my imperial home, in that order and I never got a note or anything. What do I do next? Do i need to start over?

Hi all.

I keep sending new versions of this mod to the filefront and they never seem to be put online. Its got so bad that 3.3 is the version i have and 1.31 is the newest version they have. I strongly suggest users of this mod go to my site to get it.


You will have to register but it does not look like your going to get it from here. 3.3 is twice the size of 1.31 because theres A LOT of new stuff added since 1.31

Yeah 3.3 sounds good,unfortunatly you need SI to play it and last time i got SI it corrupted my saved games so i think i'll stick with 1.3 unless someone could take all that SI crap out of Kvatch 10/10 for the mod

I extracted it to the Oblivion/data folder. But as I push on the Data button at the start screen of Oblivion, Kvatch Aftermath won't appear in the list of useable mods

Giskard, I don't know whether you're still checking with these pages here or 3.5 fixes them but I recieve some really bugging bugs when I open Kvatch Aftermath 1.31 in CS. My original aim was to add a new quest mod based on your great mod. However I cannot save your mod and it gives some bugs when loading it, though they don't crash the CS unless I save. I will mention those errors later.

The real bugging thing is, In world Tamriel>KvatchS01, the cornerfencesmall is inaccessible. When you click it, the cell changes to Kvatchstronghold... I also tried loading it with OBSE TESCS but nothing matters.

I downloaded this file and WOW im impressed but i think im missing some files from download. Where there should be a sign or city banner there is a giant yellow glowing diamond with an exclamation mark. what files am i missing?

i got either the first or second Kavatch Aftermath and when i put it on oblivion it would lock up when i talked to savalin matious so i hope this one fixes that

I hope one of you guys can tell me what I'm doing wrong. When I attempt to unzip the files to my data directory it gets an error saying can't create or something like that. If some kind sole could tell be what i'm doing wrong I would be grateful

I was running through the main quest again, when all of the sudden, after talking to Jauffre, all anybody can say is "Why do you disturb me? I must restore the shrine so I can sleep. It has been so long since I have slept." excluding Jauffre, for some reason. (for those of you who don't have a good memory, the phrase comes from the "Blood of the Divines" quest) Deactivated it, but it's still a problem

1. Flags and banners are huge ( ! )'s!!!

2. the guards keep killing the Bosmer named brolla

The flags are represented with a giant yellow ! (A substitute for missing item mesh/texture can be annoying if its used when you need to pickup an item due to the fact you cant pick up giant yellow !s.) The Honored Dead kept running and doing the auto-conversation thing, and saying I HAVE NO something. I basically got trapped. With a little help from TeMpO, (A cheat modder) And the console command tgm, i fought, KOed, and killed my way through and never came back. Im sure its a vary good mod, but its not working for me.

It's a great mod, but the thing that bothers me is that if you attack someone, all the people will come and chase you and then they talk to you and say something unusefull like: Because we are friends, i won't harm you. or something like that. could you fix this? anyway i still give it an 8/10

Great mod methinks, though, there are too many chests of drawers in the counts sleeping quarters. Looks awkward especially with a chest of drawers at the foot of the counts bed where a chest should be. I just think the counts sleeping quarters could be way better IMO.

looks like a great mod and many thanks for creating it..but i have a problem when the mod is enabled i have no trouble loading indoor saved games but then when i leave the house or wherever i am the game crashes...some help on fixing this problem would be much appreciated thanks!smile

dont worry about previous comment i figured out that if u turn of autosave it works fine...but now i have another problem lol sorry to b a pain...when i go to talk to salvian matius the only speach option is rumors and his disposition is maxed out so yer..is there a certain time i should talk to him?

This mod is a 2 year old version of Kvatch Aftermath, not Kvatch Rebuilt. Released around Oct 2006. So its well out of date.

Kvatch Aftermath 7.3 (the current version of this mod, yes i said 7.3 not 1.31) has been uploaded to filefront now along with all the other mods me and my new team have made and awaits approval before appearing on the main filefront website.

But its already on my personal filefront page at the link below for those who want it. Just one warning, read the docs, the parts about CURP are very important.


Direct links to the download pages for all the mods uploaded here have been put on our own website if you find it easier, CURP links are there too.

ok after i had this working perfectly forever but once i did the Aid for Bruma and accendently used "movetoqt" and it it ruined kvatch back to normal frown was it the quest or would not starting this mod till after this quest stop it?

Verry cool. 9/10. oh but one Q, i have huge yellow arrows over buildings and in the castil. how do i fix?
