LYCANTHROPE - The Werewolves of Cyrodiil v1.0
by StannieDum

Werewolf creatures designed by jcarl904

Dragon Claw Sword and Shield designed by jojjo
(Re-named in this mod to The Ice King sword and shield).

This mod adds a new species to Oblivion.

The Lycanthropes are a race of werewolves that have infested the entire northern wilderness areas of Cyrodiil. Their natural habitat runs east to west across the entire northern hemisphere and high up into the frozen peaks of the Jerall mountains.

This of course means that unmounted or unaccompanied travel in these regions for a low-level character becomes effective suicide, as the creatures (which often hunt in packs) will persist in the assault and absolutely will not stop until the victim is slain. They are tough, fast and strong and this is by design. I deliberately made this mod to be difficult and realistic (as far as that is possible with mythological creatures like werewolves, of course). Be sure to read the posters on the north gate and the cathedral door in Bruma for more information. The way to go is to try and avoid these creatures where possible, but if you really must enter into combat with them, be sure that your character is up to it!!

The Lycanthrope will not usually venture further south than the northernmost regions of Cyrodiil but as with everything in life, there are always rare exceptions and an odd rogue or two may possibly be sighted from time to time in more southern areas.

There are approximately 70 individual creatures scattered throughout the northern region, and these will re-spawn after 3 in-game days.

In addition to many lone wandering specimens, the creatures can sometimes be found in 'clans where they have laid claim to an area and set up a family. Needless to say, these clans should be avoided at all costs by any sane traveler (insane gamers are another matter though!!).

Legend also tells of a single lone god-like creature that is supposed to inhabit an area somewhere high in the north eastern region of the Jerall mountains. Many-a-traveller has indeed attempted to confirm or deny the existence of such a beast, but to date none has returned alive from the area in order to tell his tale. Perhaps the time has come for another attempt?

There are also other tales told of great riches that once belonged to an ancient and evil king of the long-extinct Ayleid civilization. Legend has it that this Ice King as he was referred to, fled with his treasures to the high Jeralls, after being forced from the throne and was never heard of again.

These legends are there for you to explore at will. Note however that this mod contains no quests or clues to follow (this may come in a later version). You will get the occasional on-screen message or map marker, but only after you've explored for yourself and this you will have to do if you wish to seek out legendary creatures and treasures. As stated previously, your only information is 'somewhere high in the north eastern region of the Jerall mountains... but I would say that Bruma is a good starting point.

And that, dear player is your lot.

MANUAL VERSION - After extraction, place the meshes, sound and textures folders and the Lycanthrope.esp file in the game's Data directory, then activate the plug-in via the game launcher and you're done.

OMOD VERSION - After extraction, load and activate via OBMM and you're done.

None known and I can't see any reason for incompatibilities or issues as the Data folder tree of this mod is unique.

jcarl904 for the superb one-piece werewolf meshes and textures and to Jerros and LHammonds, creators of The Lost Paladins of the Divines for providing the modder with the freedom to use them.

jojjo for the beautiful Dragon Claw sword and shield designs from his mod of the same name.

Feel free to use any part of this mod in any way you wish, but be sure to give credit where it's due (particularly to jcarl904, Jerros and LHammonds and jojjo for the various models and textures I used in compiling Lycanthrope - The Werewolves of Cyrodiil.

#2, #5 - you didn't install it right. Read the readme carefully.
#3 - No. There is a download for that though. Check out the mod 'Werewolves: The Curse of Hircine (ES IV)' be sure to read the readme very carefully though. You need OBSE to run it.
Anyway, this mod is pretty neat. I've found that it adds various sizes of werewolves scattered throughout the northern areas. The size differences are pretty funny and challenging. I'm not sure if it is this mod or the Lycanthrope 2 mod (because I have both installed) but I can also hear werewolves howling in the distance when I get nearby them. I think that is absolutely AWESOME. I love it. Such a simple detail and yet just so.. Wow! Rock

The howling of wolves adds just the right atmosphere to a night out of town and in the mountains!. Very effective mod and some awsome weaponry to be acquired. Are the weapon/armour stats levelled to me or are they standard? Well done and many thanks

I have just spent nearly three hours roaming the north eastern jerall mountans and i did not see or hear a warewolf... now near the end of my search i was attacked and killed by an invisible monster... the last part of its name was matron and i believe that she aggroed near dive rock. any ideas weather this is a warewolf? and if it is how would i get her to show up?

theres a werewolf stone by the imperial city, that turns your character into a werewolf for the night... just dont talk to the gaurds as a werewolf, they try to kill you.
