Morrowind Visual Pack- Combined (3.0) - File Description

This visual pack contains the work of Ayse, Lord Gabryael, Qarl, Raptre, & Zuldazug, who created these textures in their own packs. They were later compiled into this archive. It contains the Morrowind Visual Pack, the Morrowind Visual Pack Nature Add-on, and the Morrowind Visual Pack XT.

These textures are by far one of my favorites, and I highly recommend it to you who haven't got it yet. It will turn Morrowind into a much more prettier game.

1. Description

This visual pack retextures the game of Morrowind. This is a package of texture
files to enhance the aesthetics of Morrowind. They are high-resolution
textures, exceeding that of any known visual texture pack. Older machines or
machines with a slower 3D graphics card may experience difficulty with this mod.
However, any modern machine with a graphics card made within the last three
years will not notice any slow-down whatsoever.

2. Installation

Please be sure to backup your current textures before installing this mod in
the case that this mod doesn't appeal to you or you receive a unwanted FPS hit.
The original morrowind textures will not be overwritten, but some textures from
other installed mods may get overwritten.

Extract the contents of "mvp-30rc1.rar" into your game directories "Data Files"

3. Operating Instructions

Nothing needs to be done to use this modification.

4. Save Games

This plugin will not invalidate your old saved games.

5. Credits

All of the graphics contained within may be used as a modders resource. If you
do plan on including any of the graphics in your mod just be sure to give credit
where it is due.

We'd like to thank Antara, J.B, NelothsMouth, skydye, and Unholy for their great
work as testers, and also to lord yig, gatlock and gilgalas for their support
and advice.

Uhhh, he said this mod actually helps him wait for Oblivion.

Now that Oblivion is out though, I need a better video card. I got the RAM and the Processor though.

By the way this Mod is great, the textures are awesome!

Some people are working on mods that will add the Vvardenfell land mass along with the entire Morrowind mainland to the Cyrodiil we have already. But there is no way to convert the Morrowind master file into the oblivion engine- there'd be too many errors and conflicts. You've got to wait until the first Morrowind team finishes their Morrowind mod project for Oblivion.

These textures rock... but it's the actual gameplay in Morrowind that annoys me, for example... you randomly miss even if you are on target. And bows are pretty much useless.

I'm impressed. Textures look very detailed, clean and less repetitive. Plus, mod does not make any conflicts.
Only one thing I didn't like: textures of Hlaalu structures - the building looks now, well, too old and like be destroyed.

I like the original textures because of thier poor quality. Its more morrowindish than this eye candy. nice job though.

hey if u like the way this looks you should check out Qarl's Texture Pack 3 for Oblivion, it makes the game look almost too realistic if thats even possible. Well anyways i love Oblivion and i just got Morrowind, i know its an old game so im looking for some nice texture mods to make the game look nice before i even start playing wink. Well anyways for a game as old as Morrowind to make it look this nice (judging from the screenies) im giving 10/10. Keep Rocking on

Unzipped all files to the Data Files directory, then tried a brand new game as well as loading an old save. The textures don't seem different...? A screenshot with before/after photos would be nice and convenient to check if this is working correctly...
Pity I didn't take any for comparison, maybe I'm just used to blinding Oblivion graphics?

I'm using Morrowing GOTY addition.

Eveything looks to clean and new, as if it's all just been built an instant ago. Things don't look weathered and used which give it character as opposed to the clinical feeling these textures give it.

The textures may be better quality but it destroys the feeling and atmosphere in of many places.

To the many questions about the mod not appearing: u need to activate the mod plugin from morrowind launcher/data files and activate morrowind.esm and mod plugin.

The best-looking mod i've seen so far.

Even though it doesn't fit for the atmosphere of Morrowind.

I do not recommend this Texture pack at all.

Some of the textures are completely out of place, and can be annoying to look at. I deleted it as soon as I found out how different it was. Some of the new textures don't make sense to the environment at all.

The new detail textures are good for buildings and stuff. However the land textures do not fin in and make the game look worse than Oblivion. If you are using MGE i would recommend giving this a miss if you want distant land. The framerates go down a lot.

in the description you said the following:
"Total Size..........: 231.49MB"
but the rar file that you provided is only 142MB...
so is that a mistake or are there textures missing?

not sure what i've missed, i d/l and put the Textures and Icons folders in the Data Files folder, nothing. tried moving the .dds files out of the subfolders and putting them in the Data Files folder, still nada. i don't know what i'm missing, i'm kind of keen to see what the retexture does to Morrowind!

any hints on what i might be doing wrong here?
