Pirate Isles (BETA) - File Description  


Description:
- You can acquire a pirate ship!
- Hire yon dastardly crew!
- An island with a piratey town, where you can hire new crewmembers etc.
- The ability to take your ship and crew and raid the high seas,
specifically looting merchant ships and fighting the navy!
- 3 Different First Mates to give your orders to, a warrior, an archer, and a general first mate.
- A slightly bizarre adventure related to skooma.
- Work your pirate fame up and acquire you own upgradeable island hideout.
- Some basic pirate classes to choose from, namely the corsair and swashbuckler
- A second island town, less piratey, with a Navy Outpost.
- Work your pirate fame up and new ships will join your fleet.
- Capture prisoners on your raids and sell them to slavers.

All the islands and interiors are seperate cells, there is no modification of the mainland of Tamriel at all.
I suggest you start a new character to play my mod to get the most of the experience.

INSTALLATION
------------
Simply extract the files to the Oblibion/data folder. The files need to be in the following places for everything to work properly:
- Check the file "DSPirateIsleBETA.esp" is in the Oblivion/Data/ folder
- Check the "SmallRumKeg.nif" is in the Oblivion/Data/meshes/DSPIModels/ folder
You may need to create the /meshes/DSPImodels/ folder. It is very important
you spell this correctly for the models to show up in game.

The Pirate Isles BETA - IMPORTANT!!!
------------------------------------
This is the beta release of my mod, The Pirate Isles.
The beta is bug free (to my knowledge), but is not the final version.
In this beta you can purchase a ship, hire one of three different first mates, and hire a crew.
Once you have your crew you can go looting! Each time you loot your pirate rating goes up, get a high enough rating
and you can acquire an upgradeable hideout!

What does the Pirate Isles BETA add?

Whats the difference between the BETA and the final version?
------------------------------------------------------------
The main difference is the main quest is missing from the beta.
I am putting this out to see what people think of the hiring and control system of the pirates, as well as the looting, i would like to hear your
feedback, either head to the official forums and join in on the discussion (search for Pirate Isles Beta) or look on chorrol.com forums
under mod projects. (may or may not be there yet) If you don't wander the forums you can email me, but i prefer people to join in the discussion
on the forums!

Heres what else I plan to add after i get feedback from the beta:
- More pirates hanging out at the hideout.
- More commands available through first mate, including hiring of crew.
- Morale for your crew, need to pay them every week or mutiny!
- High pirate fame leads to attacks by bounty hunters etc. It will actually give you a reputation (not just a number)
- Buried treasure quest (what pirate story would be without it!?)
- Everything from the beta release!
- 2 More first mates, one a wizard
- Governers daughter quest! (what pirate mod could be without one)
- Governers son quest (for the ladie pirates amongst us)
- Major imperial port.
- Possibly voices

I suggest you talk to Mecios in the Black Moons cabin in Blackhorn Town, ask him to tell you about being a pirate.
Also you can buy the "Guide to being a Pirate" from the trader in Blackhorn. Also for general quests REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR JOURNAL!

1. Getting to the islands:
Simply sleep in a bed anywhere and the missions start. You will find an item called "Map to Blackhorn Town" in with your gear,
by dropping this map then picking it back up again you will be able to travel to Blackhorn from Tamriel. To get back simply talk to one
of the dock managers that offer travel, and they will take you back to Anvil.
2. Getting a ship:
The only ship on offer is the Black Moon at BlackHorn Town. Talk to Mecios inside the Black Moons Cabin to purchase the ship.
3. Hiring a crew:
To hire a crew head over to the Bilge Monkey in Blackhorn town, down the bottom you will find people to hire, when you leave and come back there
will be more to hire.
4. Hiring a first mate:
There is 3 first mates too acquire, they are located in Blackhorn town. Try talking to people...
5.Looting:
To loot you need a crew of at least 6 and a first mate talk to your first mate and he will ask if you want to go looting!
You need to defeat the enemy crew, then MAKE SURE YOU GET THE CARGO MANIFEST from the cabin, this details what is onboard. You take the
cargo manifest to Heldokti in Blackhorn, and she will buy the goods off you.
6. The Hideout:
THe hideout becomes available when you have a pirate rating of 10 or more. TO increase your pirate rating go looting!
7. Checking my pirate rating:
Theres a book in the cabin called the Pirate Journal, activating this book will dsiplay your rating and the number of crew members you have.

reminds me of the galleon mod on morrowind.. can you sail the ship manually like that one or can you only tell it destinations to go?

You need to assemble a crew, then tell your first mate you want to start looting. Soon, you'll be beside a ship, battling its crew and killing it. You tell the first mate wen you want to go home again.

Look, you obviously know how to mod Oblivion, dude. Why don't you get together with whoever was doing Unique Landscapes, program up a pilotable ship, and set up some AI scripts for other merchant ships you can board in real-time? That would be so awesome.

Wow, this is very very cool man, some of the skooma stuff (i.e the weird world) is awesome.

The only thing I will say is that for all the dialogue that you've added as text, it goes WAY too fast to read. At least for me and I consider my reading speed, er high...ish.


I don't think I know anyone who talks that fast so perhaps it may be worth slowing it down. I had to replay most of the dialogue so I could actually see what it was that they said (also the fact that it's mostly in "ye piratey talk" makes it difficult to read at a regular rate.)

That's my only critisism though, otherwise it's awesome.

(Oh, and also just as a side note, in some of the dialogue you didn't get your grammer quite right, like not capitalising *I* ect. Would make it look more 'swish' if it was stick out tongue)

If only oblivion was working. This looks cool and I might be able to use this because I plan reformat my computer. The ship idea sounds good and this mod is definatly making more progress then other mods I have seen that change this amount of things. Two Thumbs Up! Rock Two Thumbs Up!

The modding always keep upgrading it is really cool with all great mods! Nice mod this. But if "ye salties" wanna be real pirates why dont play things like "Puzzle Pirates" just kidding PLAY OBLIVION!

This is a very slick plug-in Rock. I can't wait for the full version. I've just a few suggestions. First you need to slow down some of the dialog, it goes by way to fast & I can't read it. Second can you lable the buildings on the map in Blackhorn?
Also when it game requires you to find some one, can you please give a little more information, drop a hint of an area to look.(i.e. I'm at a rating of 35, I have had my hideout for a while, but I can't find the shipwright anywhere). In addition I've hit several ships since getting my hideout, and I can't find the distillary componants needed. Finally as you rise in level the loot should get better.
Other than those points, I'm having a blast with this addictive plug-in. It's way better than the offical Thieves Den plug-in.

Hey, if you want suggestions, I got 1.... How bout making an island like Shipwreck Cove in Pirates of the Caribbean... where somebody get ranks... n the highest is Pirate Lord or Legend... or something... n there will be fightin in the pub sometimes... n OH, maybe put Jack Sparrow... in the game.... savvy???

i like this mod so far but theres one wierd thing:

sometimes i'll be walking around blackhorn town and all of a sudden, someone will start attacking me for no reason, or every time i go into the tavern, a fight starts and a few people die.

okay never mind about the attacking thing. doesn't happen anymore for some reason.

now i have a new problem. i went out to go looting and when i was done i used the blackhorn map to get to blackhorn town. but when i got back, none of my crew where on my ship, not even my first mate, Alacanti. so now i can't go looting. any way to fix this?

by the way, i love this mod, i give it 10/10

oh and #31, go inot your inventory, drop the map to blackhorn town, then pick it back up. you'll get a message asking if you want to go to blackhorn town. obviously, click yes

Thanks...I already found tht out by reading the 'HELP! WARNING THIS SECTION CONTAINS POSSIBLE SPOILERS'... But wht u did was wrong.. cuz when u used the map...its only for yrself.. n not for yr crew ... So technically, yr crew is still at sea... The correct way to go back to Blackhorn Town after looting is by entering yr cabin, when u activate the door, they'll ask u if u wana go back... Then click yes....

So u juz either from the last save game b4 this thing happened...or hire a new crew n first mate..... There's still more out there.....

This is by far the best mod... cuz im actually a Pirates of the Caribbean fan... which made me actually find this mod... I juz cant wait for the final version... hope i get to be t like jack Sparrow.....

ignore my above posts. I found the cell name and have my crew back! Just in case anyone else makes the same mistake I made, to get your crew back type "coc OutatseaImp" (without the quotation marks, of course) to go to the cell your crew is at.

This mod sounds awesome! I've been curious about making pilotable Ships myself. I want to make a mod with a whole new map where you need to travel by ship, you can pirate other ships, have battles with the Imperial navy and encounter sea monsters like Kraken, Dragons, Cliff Racers (Morrowind) etc...

I got to like 12 pirate fame got the hide and the ugraded dock and clean space and the cook but the i got stuck in the ceiling so used the map and traveled to the pirate island but now I can't get to my hideout or ship and coc outatsealmp won't work and i don't want to have to raid another 50 ships just to get back to my current save. plz help i need to get to the hideout but can't you the ship or just get back to the ship.

may I suggest in the future: either a bigger crew,or more powerful crew(not max lvl five)with healing spells ect...,or a teleport system to the blidge monkey
because my crew just keep dying and they suck in battle
more ships
exploring quest (ie:explorer a mystirious island..ect),ability to climb the masts.ect

I was talking to Mecios Carcasdis after I had bought the Black Moon. I used the line to ask him something about why not just kill you, but one of the sentences in his answer said this. "now buccaneer worth his weight will join a navy lackey..." I believe you meant "no buccaneer worth his weight will join a navy lackey..."

I believe that adding some hints on how to get the hideout to some NPCs once you get the right amought of pirate rating would be great. Right now if I didn't read the readme file I would not have even known that you had to do something to get the hideout or that you could even get a hideout, but it's quite a good mod.

When I attack a ship and the battle really gets go. Every now and then one of the NPCs that I'm trying to kill slips through the ship and starts swimming in the ship its self.

Ok ill tell you guys how to get there. First of all find your self a bed. then what you need to do is to sleep for like 4 hours. if nothing happens keep trying that until you teleport to a broken half sunken ship. You will then realize all your equipment is gone (don't worry there all upstairs in a chest). after you got your stuff back you will then need to find a hole in the ship,(in the 2nd floor). then after that u need to swim to the island. CONGRATS u just made it to pirate island. p.s if u see a guy in a white rob thats offering you skooma....well I had a really tough time figuring out where is out. by the way GREAT MOD I LOVE IT. i just don't know how to get a ship.Two Thumbs Up!

Anyway can the pirates also have scimitars? Theres a mod here somewhere for scimitarssmile and also can u equip all the pirates with bows (shortbows they r on the Adonnays elven sabres mod maybe u can ask him if u can use them)
Can it be possible to invade the imperial navy town? Devil!
AND I WANT TO HAVE CANNONS ON THE SHIPS

This could have been way better, but is still good. You need to put in upgrades for your ship. For example, you can add cannons that at the beginning of the battle, will (Passively) reduce the number of the Merchants/Mercs/Soldiers you fight. You can also put in a better sail or other sailing equipment (To allow you to travel to more places. You can also add an upgradeable crew. (For example, upgrade their armor and weps, give them food/armor) You can also make more useage for the captives, like forcing them to fight on your side, or even stay at your hideout forging armor and weapons for your crew. You can add guns, (Pirates are nothing without guns wink) They can even just be a skin for bows. (Just add different sound, change the speed of the ammo, change what the ammo looks like, and give it a skin, and you got a gun smile) There are many things you can add, but this is a hell of a good start smile

This an excellent mod 10/10

it could use more houses in the hideout though cause it looks empty.
Plus every now and again the slaughterfish end up flying above the ship.

for all of you that dont read the text in time. when an npc is talking just press esc. the game will freeze and the menu will come up but u can still read the text down belowRock

I got this mod from Tesnexus before, and I hate to break it to you guys, but this mod is really old. If you look at the date this mod was added in 2007 - this is probably never going to be finished. by the way, the grog supply is unfindable, you will have to use the cs, and this is an amazing mod that everybody should download.

I think this is a neat mod, but if you do make the governer's son/daughter you should NOT make them gender specific, and, if you have the time and/or patience make different dialogues for different genders.

NOTES BY ARWENCIRE (just a player that loves this mod):
Use the console (~ key) and type "Player.Setstage DSPIPBQuest 80" to get the brewery update part done, since its not in the mod to do (afterall it's a Beta mod STILL).
By doing this you can get 2 other pirate ships with resp Captain Goffre and Captain Breste later on.
To get the first one you need a Pirate Rating of 41(?) and then a Pirate Rating of 61(?) to get them to loot for you. Doesn't do much as cash-income though, but its nice to have a fleet.
Both the Ships dock in your Hideout, and you have to visit the Captains in their ship(s) there to send them on a looting mission for you.
It takes 3 game-days to get them back into your Hideout after you sent them to loot the Seas.
If ship(s) of the co-looting Pirate Captain(s) is/are in your Hideout, their crew will roam the place, so it looks a bit more lively then there.
Guess this is the end of the whole mod, but there might be more to do in the Imperial town island (skooma quest maybe fe?)
NOTE ON COMPANION SHARE: you can let your HIRED Pirates wear weapons/armor from your inventory, but DO loot them if they die at sea, or you will loose the stuff you gave them.
Do NOT resurrect them, or your ship will be filled with no-use Pirate-crew members, and you get lessw choice in the Pub to choose new Piratehelpers.
You can NOT share-and-let-them-keep-the-lot on the 2 new Captains, because they move out to sea if you send them to loot.
However: If you choose to let the 2 ships stay in your Hideout (mostly for estetic reasons), the ROAMING CREW(S) can be used to share inventory with.
But ONLY as long as you do NOT send the ship(s) on a looting expedition, because then they get their old gear back if the ship(s) get back after the 3 days.
So take their given gear back BEFORE you go talk to the Captain(s) to go looting, then re-give it if they are back in your Hideout.
(So the same as for the 2 Captains in their cabins)
