Runestone Village (1.1) - File Description

Description:
Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

RUNESTONE VILLAGE
version 1.1 (September 2009)

THIS IS RUNESTONE VILLAGE

Thirty years ago I settled in the remotest area of Cyrodiil I could find. I settled in the area of an old Nord rune stone, erected ages ago by some unknown artist. I thought I had finally found the isolation and loneliness I sought, there in the middle of the woods in nowhere. I was wrong. In the last years more people have found their way to my paradise of isolation and a village has grown up around that rune stone.

I am leaving now. They have even built a pub, and some weeks ago, the Imperial Watch sent a soldier to uphold the law in the area. This was for me just too much and signals the beginning of civilization. That is not exactly what I am seeking. So I will now leave this Runestone Village, as it has come to be known, and travel further north. Perhaps I shall settle in a cave in the mountains. I will continue my search for hermitage, as this place has become intolerable.

I leave the house I have lived in for thirty years. I leave it to you, and hope you will have some use for it. The key can be found where I often hid it, in the hiding place behind that blasted rune stone.

Your friend,
Wolfgang the Hermit

Runestone Village (1.1) - Readme
Readme File:
WHAT IS THIS?

Runestone Village is a mod that places a player house in the game world. The player has unlimited access to the house, once obtaining the key to it. There is storage space and decorations in the house. I tried to not make it over-dimensioned and tried to make it suitable for the Oblivion world. There is also a village attached to the house. The village is populated by a number of NPC's.

Runestone Village is to be seen as such. A nice little player home, with a farming village added around it just as a bit of a bonus. You can rest at the inn and there is an armourer who repairs weapons there as well.

Runestone Village does NOT require any other mod or add-on to be played as it was created using only vanilla Oblivion. It does NOT require Shivering Isles.

INSTALLATION

Unzip all the Runestone Village folders and files to their proper locations in your Oblivion Data Folders. The runestone.esp should go in Oblivion/Data, and the sound files should go in Oblivion/Data/Sound/Voices. Be sure to mark the Runestone.esp in The Oblivion start-up Data Files menu before you play. That's it.

To play Oblivion without the Runestone Village mod, unmark the .esp in the Data Files menu at the start-up screen. To completely uninstall it, remove the runestone.esp as well as all the sound files attached to the mod under Sound/Voices/runestone

STARTING OUT

Runestone Village lies exactly in between Bruma and Chorrol on the map. To travel there, take the road from Chorrol East. There is a turn in the road on the map, where it turns north and then east again, at the point where it turns east again, you will eventually find a small forest road leading north into the woods. Following that grown-together road will lead you to the village.

A .jpg map of the exact location of Runestone Village has been supplied with this package. Once you get to Runestone Village, you can fast travel in and out of it as you wish. You only need to find it first. The key to the player house is hidden there in the village, as the note here above from the hermit states.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

You may upload this mod to wherever. As long as all the files supplied with it in this package are properly included. I also require proper credits for it. You may also change, better or edit this mod in any way you like. As usual, proper credit is asked for in that case.

Backup your saved games before playing new mods! I cannot be held responsible if this mod in some way invalidates your saved games. However, that scenario is highly unlikely. Please inform me of any issues and problems with the mod. Opinions, suggestions and general praise is very much welcome too!

You will find me under the name Antiscamp on the TesNexus Forum, if you wish to get into contact that way, or NewAntiscamp on the official Bethesda Forum.

VERSION 1.0; (Sept 26, 2009). Initial release.

VERSION 1.1 (Sept 27, s009). Corrected a serious bug with the sound files that made the mod crash on some computers. It should work perfectly well now.
