Adventures of Middle Earth Frozen - Mods

A sad, sad day in TES modding history is apon us. We have been emailed this letter from the AME team, and well.... read for your self....

Dear Middle Earth Enthusiasts!
Today we want to announce a very drastic step in the development of the vision "Adventure Middle Earth": AME is getting frozen.
The technical limitations of the publicly available Construction Set makes it impossible to realise AME for TES IV: Oblivion with the planned size. Based on the fact that we could already implement our whole landmass in Morrowind we did not think it could be a problem for Oblivion. Just when rumours spread that there is a limitation of 6x6 Quads (1 Quad = 1024 cells) in Oblivion we started testing the whole size of the heightmap instead of testing it step by step as we had done before. The result was shocking: As soon as the amount of the quads surpassed 20 the Construction Set crashed, when trying it in one rush and also with parts of 10 quads each. So altogether nothing above 20 Quads can be imported to Oblivion. Additionally for these 20 Quads no LOD-Terrain (LOD is what you see in the distance) can be created anymore - this is only possible with a maximum of 16 quads. As we had planned Adventure Middle Earth with 225 quads, the realisation is impossible due to an ever crashing Construction Set. Even a request for help at Bethesda did not result in anything. This does not astonish us too much as the Community's calls for a new Version of the CS, which is used for the Pay-PlugIns, were unheard. We have tried everything, tested as much as possible and searched for solutions - but it is simply impossible. We hope you can understand this sad but inevitable step.

Now, after about four years, we could of course review the past time and wallow in memories, but we won't, as AME is not cancelled and thus we rather look hopefully into the future. AME is a vision we want to realise for ourselves, and to do this the way we want we accept waiting for some more years which we will use to look for a new technical basis and to extend our skills. We will also proceed with some work on AME. So today we want to say goodbye to all those who have eagerly awaited Middle Earth in Oblivion and whom we have disappointed. But we also want to invite all those who share our vision to visit the forums from time to time, because it will definitely go on. Time is not yet ripe for such a Middle Earth, but some day it will be, and with today's progress rather tomorrow than the day after.

Morrowind a bad game? Dude, you're obviously visiting the wrong sites...
I never expected a mod like this to be released, not for ES3, nor for ES4...
Sad but true, it's a huge mod and i can't imagine that a team will have the time to do something like that, not without getting payed about it smile
Or till ES5 will be released and they start working on the new engine... stick out tongue

The last mod that tried to re-create LOTR was on Morrowind, and was shut down by the company that owned the rights to the LOTR Franchise.

Man I am fed up with overambitious plans that never become reality!
You modders out there Be modest create something not huge but beautiful and interesting that will make us phraise your names for all eternity (well almost) and dont waste our time (and especially yours) with overzealous plans.
I knew from day 1 that this plan wound end up in the dustbin. Not my friends.
Guess Iam entitled to say to them "told you so"!

#8- Morrowind had a similar engine issue, and as such the Tamriel Rebuilt team is currently focusing on rebuilding the entire Morrowind Provence.

#10 There is a CS. You have to download it here, or off their site.

And I need to stress that the last time a LOTR mod was undertaken, the owners of the LOTR franchise forced them to shut down.

I'm afraid you're not entirely understanding the situation stanley...modders aren't PAID to make their mods, and Adventure Middle Earth wasn't stopped on account of the modders, it was stopped because the project was too much for the Bethesda's current construction set to handle. So instead of b****ing about things you probably can't even comprehend, you should sit down, and re-think what you just said about one of the best mods in TES history.

This project was going along just fine until recently, and I'm sure it will resume someday. Perhaps we won't see it on Oblivion, but when it does show up, I'll be the first to tell you "told you so"!

Why give up? So you can't make it as big as you wanted. No big deal. Just make it smaller, but put in more interesting quests and people to make up for it. Quality is always better than quantity.
