Welcome to all for the eigth version of the Gamefront Network Update - Files Section the second part of the weekly news post. (my apologies for this one being one day late! - Danny) The Files part of the Weekly update includes the latest Files that has been posted on the Network Sites over the past week including many different Modifications, Mini Mods, Skins, Vehicles, Starships and more. This weeks big mods include a big map pack for Battlefield Vietnam, a large mod for Company of Heros, as well as an improvement mod for Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, as well as a Free Train Minigame based on Railworks with the Flying Scotsman. There have also been a lot of new files for Bridge Commander over the past week, while not all have been featured below there were a fair few files!

Company of Heroes: NHCmod ToV
This is the latest version of the NHC mod, compatible with Company of Heroes, Opposing Front and Tales of Valor patched to 2.601. After one year of bug fixing, here is a stable version of the NHCmod. A lot of new features are now available. Powell can now be played like a FPS game with the "direct fire ability", snipers can hide in hay stack and big tree (Thanks to Lethal Dosage add-on). Some news units are also available:

Flight Simulator: Flying Scotsman Gift (Driveable game)
While its not Flight Simulation, I thought that this would be the best place for those that are interested. This free gift from the National Railway Museum which has been created by Railsimulator.com and is based upon the Railworks engine however this won't work with the Railworks 2 game itself - its basically a stripped down version of Railworks that will allow you to play with the Flying Scotsman one of the worlds most famous Steam Locomotives from the UK. Best of all you won't need any game to play this as this is completely standalone!

Armada: TNG Romulan Ship Pack
Everyone who has been involved in the Star Trek modding world is well acquainted with the name Atolm as he is one of the premier artists who spends a significant amount of time and effort designing ships and the like. This ship pack releases some of his unique Romulan designs to the Armada community. The user will need to create build buttons, wireframes and odf files to properly use these ships. A rough odf file is provided to orient the user to respective hardpoint locations.

Here is an improvement pack for GTA San Andreas, this will improve and replace the stock version of the cars in the game with several new cars created by Onepiece. All of the 22 cars included that have been replaced are a lot better than that of the stock version of the cars and also include highly detailed interiors and much more. This modification also includes HD Wheels for all of the vehicles but doesn't include any custom handling.

Please note that it would probably be best if you had a clean verison of GTA San Andreas to install this mod, it will work with other mods installed but will work with . You will need to have IMG Tool V2 or the San Andreas Mod Installer to install this mod.

This is the Personalized FPD V3.1, in the .rar you'll the .cs file, put "F.P.D." in cleo folder, you can customize the camera easily, but it is limited, the controls:

- Now the camera turns faster and return to normal position when you aren't holding the 'turn buttom'
- Now the camera goes further ahead in bikes, fixing the bike little glitch

Halo: plasma burst
This isn't really a projectile swap per se. More like a projectile alteration. What we have here is a alteration of the Needler ammo, specifically, instead of a continuous stream of needles until an explosion of pink mist, it fires several needles at once...then with an explosion of pink mist, lol.The needles still track, although they seem to do it less effectively now then they did in the basic config.

Nothing else about level 6 (343 Guilty Spark) has been changed. Yes, this ammo alteration only affects the one level. It's fishbiscuit4655's first mod. So go easy on him, okay?

Knights of the Old Republic 2: Mining Drill
Kael'thas Solo makes their KotOR Files debut today with a modification for the second Knights of the Old Republic game; The Sith Lords. This mod essentially changes the plasma torch in the game for what the modder has called a mining drill; to all intensive purposes this looks like a lightsaber and will wield in a similar manner to a lightsaber. The modder has used scripts to achieve this, as many of you may well be aware modifying the corpse in the morgue can produce a game breaking bug, and scripting circumvents this problem. You will have the mining drill confiscated along with all your other possessions when the TSF arrest you, and it will not be returned. All in all this is a solid modification from a first time modder and is well worth checking out for those who would like a lightsaber earlier in the game.

Left 4 Dead 2: L4D2 Modified Talker
Now you can enjoy more abundant lines while using radial menu. Enhanced many different and funny dialogues. If you have an own custom radial menu, you can enjoy complete modified talker than that only using official radial menu.

New update includes:

1. Applied all available but unused lines in all dialogues of The Passing.
The most obvious thing is that you can hear new lines when picking up golf club or M60.

2. Fixed a missing reply of "vampire" dialogue which is between Coach and Francis in The Passing intro.

3. Readding "Bots are also hurrahs lol" when you cheer. (Applied to L4D1.)

4. Readding "SurvivorNearFinale" when survivors are near to finale. (Applied to L4D1.)

5. Fixed that reminder of first aid kit if you leave the starting point without it.
Applied to first level of The Passing but FAILED, now I fixed and applied to every campaign.

Medal of Honor: Super_Soldiers.zip (1.0)
Super-Soldiers: Okay, listen up, here's the deal. I got tired of the Germans always having automatic weapons in nearly every level while the Americans have semi auto or even bolt action weapons. Only certain allied soldiers get a thompson and even then it's only available in certain levels. If you spawn a soldier and give him a weapon that is not meant to me used in that level he just stands there like a dope! So, I made this little mod file. It makes some of the allied soldiers Super Soldiers, they are much larger and tougher, and they also have a big fully automatic Winchester Shotgun. It works in EVERY level, provided you've downloaded my Super_Shotgun mod of course. They are not any smarter, but we can't expect everything. They won't follow you around, but they make good guards. If you know where an enemy spawn point is, just leave a couple of these guys there. Giant soldiers will also appear in the game but they may or may not be tougher. If they are meant to die in the mission they will still die. You must have cheats enabled and know how to spawn soldiers.

Stalker: CRO White Wolf's M16A1
This is a weapons model originally made by Millenia, ported for use in the STALKER games by Purke62 with some additions added (Strap and animations). The weapon also comes with a night vision scope, grenade launcher and silencer. More details are in the readme.

Star Trek: Legacy: Muldrfs LM Tools Suite (2d)
This version includes updates to the Hardpoint Joint tool of the main LMTools utility. The tool is used to speed up and simplify hardpointing models for use in Legacy. It can now import existing joint data from Milkshape and let up update the entries. There are also quite a few bug fixes in the Hardpoint tool compared to the 2b and 2c releases.

This package ofcourse includes everything from past releases:
Mission Scripting Functions, Ship Testing modes (2on2 Testing), Destruction Chunk tools, Mapdatabase and MapEditor functions, Readme Library/creator which I seldom use, Odf Mass Updater, and various Odf Data Lookup tools.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Helkaan's second skinpack
This is a small skinpack made by Helkaan. It features two KOTOR skins, some empire skins and some other skins (Twilek, Wookie, White Jango Fett).

While some are decent enough there are a few skins here that are a bit strange - the Darth Nihilus one seems to be a photosourced image pasted onto sidious's face without proper resizing, and looks very bizarre. The wookie and twilek skins also while being claimed to be 'improved' don't seem to be - the wookie has a single fur/skin/eye tone and the twilek has details (tentacle bands, details on pants) removed. Anyway reviewing skins is a bit subjective, download if the screens below appeal. Remember, this is useful only to modders who can create a side mod.

Bridge Commander: SFP Interceptor
This interceptor is based on the intrepid design. Built to be smaller, but faster, and as an exotic drive experimental prototype, she has dual deflectors, amoung other enhancements as well as general hull shape. Well armed as well, with the same type X phasers as the intrepid, though less of them, and the new advanced photon used in the 1701-E's recent upgrade. This is a low poly model with almost all detail textured on from renders of the CGI model. The author of the model allows texture modifications, so hopefully someone in the community will take up enhancements or the building of a higher res model of this terrific ship.

Uss Cadence, a Legacy Class Vessel, testing a new Warp Engine configuration, and new weapons. The screenshots depict it trial runs in various systems, taken by the escorting vessels. Bridge Commander: Stormcrow [runabout varient]
The Gryphon Class Runabout variant Stormcrow was developed as an tactical assault craft.
With a minimum flight crew of two and a troop carrying capacity of forty this small Starship is capable of landing a considerable force of Starfleet marines, coupled with the ships cruising velocity of warp 6.5 and a maximum speed of warp 8.3 rapid deployment is available.

Armed with six type VII phaser banks, 2 type X phaser cannons and two MK V micro-torpedo launchers this runabout can hold its own in a battle. The extra dorsal wings provide eight hard points for external weapons or other equipment, normally this consists of eight standard photon or quantum torpedoes. Reasons for production of this variant are sketchy at best but one rumour revolves around recent exploratory reports from beyond the Galen System.

Jedi Knight III: Black Rebel (Fix)
Anywho, 'nother file from Jedi_HM2. This one actually took me by surprise as well. Instead of a black clothed rebel, the rebel is actually...black skinned O_O;; so right out of the gate I was like: "Oh wow, nice!" It's great to see someone actually noticed how depressingly few black characters made/make an appearance in the Star Wars universe, even less on JA. This smart little mod fixes that, applying a modified lando face and hand texture to the default rebel. Best of all, he included it in the rebel directory, so those who don't have it won't see Kyle.

However, Jedi HM2 kinda missed out on a little detail. In trying to add the commander versions(made by DocPhil) of the rebel skin, he ended up inadvertantly misspelling the name of the image where the accessories came in XD! This resulted in no vest OR helmet showing up, and leaving a huge hole in the rebel. Fatal, no less. Might wanna patch that up :B

Other than that, very nice little package. Included are a set of NPCs to make your rebels more than E-11 toting dummies. I really like that you're giving the Rebel Alliance a little diversity in the human department. Thanks a hundred, and uh...<_< > _> see if y'can squeeze in some time to fix that little bug, eh?

Jedi Knight III: Haazens Lightsaber
Suddenly: bananas. Thousands of them. Today, Ashura brings us yet another hilt. This particular one belongs to Haazen: this guy according to Wookieepedia Just another saber request I picked up. This contains 2 lightsabers: Haazen's lightsaber and a backhanded version of it. I've also added (optional) SP support for both.

I have to say, I rather like it. Then again, I rather like Haazen's hilt to begin with for the simple reason that it has an awesome shape. As usual though, both the quality and the accuracy here are great. Additionally, for the backhand saber fans amongst us, Ashura made a special backhand version. Other than that, it also comes with optional SP support for those of us who somehow actually like SP (yes, I'm looking at you Averus stick out tongue), though it does mention that... This collides with other SP compatible saber hilts , if you want to use SP support for this you have to remove all other hilts with SP support from your basefolder

Jedi Knight III: Resident Evil Afterlife - Alice Abernathy V2
Amusing...many of our former reviewers seem to hang on this game by a thread. Denariax is no exception, and he pump'th out his second version of Alice Abernathy.

This version has been moderately overhauled, with powerful tools being utilized. The clothing has been completely reduxed, and quite a few things have been re-touched. The face, though barely different from the Gweth source, has lost that lil scar that was on the lady's face, so closer to the target it appears to be. The clothing is pretty much the primary target, receiving a full leather-like revamp, with a nice little shader to help spiff up the torso. The only downside being that it makes the flesh texture on the arms shiny.

I'd say it's definitely an improvement. The only thing I didn't see improved were the hair particles I mentioned in the first review. Denny's been made aware of the problem, so hopefully he'll know what I'm talking about, and maybe fix it, in time. Thankfully, you, the masses, won't see much of that problem from afar.

Knights of the Old Republic: Sith Vandar
ViadoOnasi joins the KotOR Files modding community had has produced a very simple modification for the first Knights of the Old Republic game, all this mod does is change Vandars eyes to the Sith type as seen on Anakin in the Revenge of the Sith film. This seems somewhat strange to this particular reviewer however if you have ever wanted Vandar to have Sith eyes then this mod will be for you!

Knights of the Old Republic 2: ...A Darker Peragus
Canderis returns with an update to his A Darker Peragus modification for the second Knights of the Old Republic game. This is of course a popular and well executed modification by our friend from Lucas Forums. Essentially the point of the modification is that Peragus has a very survival horror feel to it, but the scare factor is somewhat reduced by the level of lighting, so the author has changed that by modifying lightmaps to make Peragus darker. In this version the author has also included changes to the musical score, which do sound good, and are of a much more disconcerting nature than the music that Obsidian had made for Peragus. This however will very much be a personal taste, and I'm not sure if the music selected matches with the themes and ambience created by the original score, add into that that the Peragus music is excellent then some may not like this addition to the mod. However that is obviously very much upto individuals so be sure to check that out.

Knights of the Old Republic 2: New Head Texture PMHH01
JayFreedman626 makes their KotOR Files debut today with a modification for the second Knights of the Old Republic game. This mod changes one of the player character heads to make the head with this particular texture look younger. The skin has been smoothed out, although it somewhat looks like some detail has been lost in the soothing out process. Be sure to check out the screenshot to see if this mod is for you, as with all aesthetic modifications check out the screenshots to see if they please your own personal preferences.

Knights of the Old Republic 2: Sword of Gith
My fellow staffer Darth Insidious returns to us here at KotOR Files with a modification for the second Knights of the Old Republic game; The Sith Lords. This is a new sword model based off a sword in Obsidians Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack; the Mask of the Betrayer. For those familiar with the game, the particular sword that DI has made is called Silver Sword of Gith.

The model looks very much like the sword of which DI based this mod, the sword is of course up to Darth Insidious usual high standards, however you will have to cheat to obtain the sword in game as the author felt that the sword itself was a bit too high-fantasy for the universe depicted in The Sith Lords. However should you have wanted this particular sword, of if your just looking for a new thing to swing at enemies, a review of the screenshots would be most beneficial in ascertaining if this modification is for you, as with all aesthetic modifications it really is down to individual user preferences.

Medal of Honor: Colt_Devastator
Devastator replaces the Colt 45 and changes it to a new and very powerful weapon. For those of you who thrive on reality, you won't like this mod. But then what are you doing playing computer games anyway?
The Devastator is a pistol that fires shotgun shells, it's an automatic like a machine gun, and something a little extra. When you click the right mouse button it fires a rocket. So, don't try to do a pistol whip on someone up close!

It will take out trucks, the halftrack and tanks!! And it never needs to be reloaded. The skin, well, I'll admit it was an accident!! HA HA! But, it looks kinda cool anyway. Ask me first if you plan to use this file for any of your projects.

Medal of Honor: Super_Pistols
Super_Pistols contains both the Colt 45 and the Hi-Standard Silenced. The Colt 45 becomes a rapid fire semiauto firing shotgun ammo, it never needs reloading. The Hi-Standard becomes a nice silenced sniper pistol with a powerful zoom. It fires 30-06 Springfield ammo at 10-1, it is also rapid fire semiautomatic and never needs reloading. Double click the right mouse button to activate and deactivate the zoom. Both of these weapons are very powerful and will fire as fast as you can click your mouse button. Recoil has been removed and muzzle flash and smoke has been reduced. Complaints? Call 1-800-Whogivesa!

Super_Shotgun pack gives you two of my Mods. First an old favorite, TAS,or Thompson Automatic Shotgun. Firing at a rapid rate around 1000 rounds per minute with shotgun ammo. Pattern is slightly spread for mid range. Features the actual Thompson logo, Composite Stock and Forearm. Never needs to be reloaded. Also included in this pack is The Winchester Super Shotgun, a fully automatic version of the original, reskinned and made to be wicked! Features actual Winchester Logo, Composite Stock and forearm, never needs to be reloaded.

Also fires at max rate of 1000 rpm. Has a huge pattern for clearing out rooms. Scale is slightly increased for reasons I don't want to mention right now. You will find both of these new weapons with your SMG's 3 on your kb. If you want to use these mods for anything you are doing please ask me first. Feel free to download them and try them out but spare me any complaints.

Star Trek: Legacy: Nix Tos Proxima for UU2.0
Hey everyone, Phoenix brings us the TOS version of the Proxima Battleship. A variant of this ship is popularly seen in pieces as the JJ Enterprise warps into orbit of Vulcan. This variant however is all in one piece, and I must say it is a very cleanly modelled vessel.

First impressions are of a nice solid design with appropriate bussards and deflector dishes. The hull looks clean, however what strikes is a bit of a lack of specular mapping, this could be due to the map, or just perhaps they are a bit dull. Regardless the vessel still looks very appealing.

In combat you will find that even for a TOS vessel the Proxima is powerful, however very well balanced. While the discharge rate of the phasers is low, enabling you to broadside your enemy for long periods, the initial damage of the phasers is minimal. So a good strategy, despite being a battleship, is to, as Sisko would say, "Swing for the fences".

nt, these vessels were born and prooven. The most famous vessel, U.S.S. Aventine, commanded by Ezri Dax would mark the Vesta class as the first of a new generation of top secret technologies and renewed enthusiasm as the Federation pushes out into the final frontier once again.

Take the helm of one of eleven Vesta class starships, each armed with a new plasma torpedo, pulse phasers and capable of retina detaching slipstream velocities. Special thanks to the design's author, Mark Rademaker, for creating an amazing new vessel and for helping to make this project possible. Thanks also to MarkyNCC for beta testing and support, and to Bankrupt Studios for collaborative effort making a more accurate Vesta class.

Battle for Middle Earth: Middle Earth (1.00)
Here comes a new Middle Earth map!!

I have worked on it for years, and now with servers shutdown at the end of the month, i have to release it as sort of tribute to this game.

This a 2V2 multiplayer map with team and armies fixed in game (typically Gondor-Rohan VS Isengard-Mordor)
Choose random army to have an army corresponding to your spot.
Many places of Middle earth are includes in this map : Minas Tirith, Edoras, Helms deep, Isengard, Fangorn, Lothlorien, Amon Hen, Emyn Muil, dead marches, Cair Andros, north of Ithilien, Shelobs lair, Ciryth Ungol, Barâd dur....

Elves can be unlocked for Rohan if you send correct units to meet them, same for free ents council (remind the film).

Company of Heroes: Ablis 2 player
Albis is mostly comprised of fields, split by a railway down the middle. There are a few buildings scattered around in strategic locations complete with small farmyards, fences wells etc. all looking very nice visually while providing excellent cover for infantry. In terms of construction, this has to be one of the better maps that we have on the site.

There is a reasonable amount of fuel on this map ( 2 x Medium, 3 x Low ), however it's nicely spread out and excellent use of cut-off points make this map very interesting to play. Munitions are plentiful, without being overdone. ( 6 x Medium, 2 x Low ). Likewise, the Victory points are spread out across the map, making it difficult to easily hold all of them. This is a brilliant map, certainly one of the better ones that we have on the site. It's recommended for both multiplayer and skirmish play.

Company of Heroes: Midas_Maps
This is a pack of Midas's first three maps. He's new to creating maps through worldbuilder and he has especially noted that he would like feedback and helpful suggestions to improve his skills at map building. The maps are :-
1: Bequinn - A big 2 player map with a little train station in the middle.
2: Der Wahnsinn von Bernwald - 2 player map with a Bowl in the middle, where the most resources are.
3: Selfast - 2 player map with an Isle an many bridges.

Gameplay wise, the maps aren't to bad, with resource points and CP's set reasonably well. The main problems the maps have simply stems from inexperience. Textures are a bit repetitive and don't transition well to their neighbours, and the elevation on hill's are pretty vertical when they are used. Still, with some useful feedback and help from more experienced map makers i'm sure we'll see a lot of better maps from mongowurm in the future!

Star Wars: Empire at War: Ord Mantell Junkyard
I don't have many memories of Ord Mantell. Although I remember a mission there during my time at the Jedi Academy, my fond memories come from when I was chasing down IG88D. This map is much more like my fond memories, very junky, and stinky.

There is a distinct lack of ability to increase your credit supply here, which makes for a long battle. The pirates that use this planet for their own purposes are strong in force, but can be avoided since there is very little to be achieved by engaging them. A nice use of Yoden's Prop Pack makes this area of the planet a bit more enjoyable to the eye, but not the nose.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: [dwts]Clanmap / Canyon Map
Dominik2111's canyon map seen here is pretty much a shooting gallery.

The map has two command posts assigned to each team (each in very close proximity to the other) with two long, parallel bridges connecting team 1's starting area with team 2's. It's virtually impossible to capture the other team's command posts, so the map basically boils down to how quickly you can shoot the AI lining up to be shot on the long, straight bridges.

You may infer from this that this is not my cup of tea, and indeed you would be right. I'm willing to allow for the fact that maps are occasionally designed like this to be used as utility maps (which this seems to be, given its "clan" moniker), but by and large they are fairly poorly constructed maps in general - they tend not to be very fun from the average user's point of view.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Rhen Var Ravine
The biggest change is that the map is now theta-shaped instead of "O"-shaped (ɵ vs. o), thanks to the addition of a bridge running through the center. This is nice, because it means a little bit less running and a little bit less dead space in the center of the map. Unfortunately, the models used for the bridge are missing low-rez versions, and consequently the bridge becomes a vanishing bridge at either end of the map. I would either increase the view distance or add a lowrez model to the bridge. Additionally, the AI seem to have a problem getting up onto the bridge, thanks to collision with the "ends" of the bridge (sync this up with the terrain better).

Most of the issues with the first still remain here, though. The map is still very large and very open, and there is a lot of running through a sniper's buffet to get from CP to CP. Some props were added (oddly, floating AT-TEs), but there really need to be more - make there be rocks from the mountainside, extensions of the mountain, etc. The CPs that were buried in the first are still buried - these should be at least somewhat visible outside of their holograms.

Star Wars Battlefront: Snowball Fight
While I don't have the copy of SWBF1 to review this map, it figures to be only appropriate to put this up sooner rather than later. Ty294's "Snowball Fight" is, as one might assume, a map with units throwing snowballs at each other.

The screenshots below should be fairly indicative of what you're getting when you download this. If it looks fun, go ahead and give it a shot.

Star Wars Battlefront 2: Space Map
"Space Map," by evman, is just that. A space map.

Its succinct, albeit nondescript title is probably appropriate, as it is a fairly generic space map. Most community made space maps are relatively bland (in fact, so are the stock space maps once you've played more than one), and it is not aided by the fact that adding or moving around capital ships is made difficult by the preponderance of different pieces needed to be moved. This map is fairly similar, although it does have an added Republic ship.

It's odd, though - each team only has their fighters available, which is sort've a bummer. There's some variety lost there that could easily have been included. The interiors of each ship are pretty much as they are generated from the template, which means they are still missing some things (like health or ammo droids). For the most part, the interior pieces in the ships that have been moved were fine, although I noticed a few objects askew in the CIS cruiser.

Warcraft III: Storm Spirit Wars 1.02
This new created map, is inspired by DotA's hero - Storm Spirit. In this map, every player will pick a Storm Spirit element out of 5 elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Electy and Nature.

Each of the element Storm Spirit has their own ''element area'' respectively. When they enter their element area, they will receive positive power. Example: For Fire Storm Spirit enter its element area will get immolation on its body and minor HP regeneration. So, if Fire Storm Spirit is inside its area fighting an other element Storm Spirit (eg. Earth Storm Spirit), the Fire Storm Spirit will have higher chance of winning because it has immolation and extra minor HP regeneration.

Other than that, each Storm Spirit element has their own special ability to be learnt. They can learn their ability by buying it at the ''Lor' d Xamzo'' shop. After you have bought, you have have one extra ability on your hero which is your special ability.
